Even though the main character is literally the definition of the word "dense", she is still likable in terms of personality. The premise of this "Isekai" is rather simple - the mc wakes up in a different world and slips into the role of the villain in a dating sim. She wants to avoid a bad ending for herself.
The answer to this challenge would be rather simple but the writer expands on the concept quite a bit and it becomes a bit convoluted all the while "Caterina" (the mc) is always oblivious to how her actions affect the people around her.
Even with that aspect the story and characters are still very enjoyable to watch. The action it lacks it compensates with good character interaction. The ending is also pretty satisfying and the a second season has been announced.

I haven't watched the second season yet, but I just want to say that the background music in this show has no right to be as good as it is. Props to the composer and director and all that because the music in this show is absolutely great.

This is one of the rare good isekai because:
- the story is very well written;
- the main character actually do stuff, is likable and is not good at everything;
- the concept is different from most isekai (read the plot summary for more informations);
- there is a lot of good comedy and wholesomeness;
- art style is likable, animation is well done, musics are good;

An isekai casting the protagonist as the "Evil" character isn't new, but her complete acceptance of the situation and then decision to avoid the inevitable doom the game has in store for her by hijacking all of the main "encounters" was, and it made for an entertaining diversion.
The story unfolds well with good jumps in the time line that make sense vs dragging out a particular segment beyond what the story could support. Characters are fairly standard, lacking serious depth but remain enjoyable, with the protagonist being the classic clueless main character trope that works well instead of being awkward.
My only significant issue was the classically "short" ending, personally want more than a 20 minute closing.
Pro's:
Con's:

Pro's:
- Excellent and consistent art, not exactly my style but can recognize the quality.
- Fun characters.
- "Realistic" Isekai, the average person isn't going to suddenly become a "god" due to present day knowledge and was nice to see that.
- Complete story arc.
- Warm and fuzzy.
Con's:
- Main character is unusually clueless.
- Very predictable.

This should be on Cruncyroll on the top 5 IMO. Loved every minutes of this anime. The heroine is relatable & hilarious even though she was destined to be a villianess with a doomed ending. If you like boys over flowers, you'll like this one. But Catarina is way more likable and actually deserved the love she gets from her friends. A happy anime that's did not fail brighten my mood after every episode. Cannot wait for Season 2!

This series is isekai and it is not your average isekai also. It has actually a genuine plot and something out of the box.i literally enjoyed the 1st season as the characters are super interesting and the protagonist is super cool,kind and dumb as hell.and i like geordo and katarina chemistry also.you will find each and every character unique and beautiful written. And the background musics are definitely Op.you will find one of the finest music composition there and artwork is also looking good. I was really enjoying this until Season 2 came. I hate the writer for ruining one of the my fav waifu of all time. Curse you guys for doing this. I mean Katarina(protagonist) i know she was dumb from the start,still this is too much like a unknown character who was new to her was trying to force his way out and and pushed her against bed and kissed her neck and what you guys think she would tell. O there was a bug there.i mean a guy will simply rape her and still she will say o there was a bug there.i was so frustrated in that scene where sora tried to do something to her.i was really frustrated i cant describe it.and this is also not his fault cuz Katarina was seducing him left and right without the knowledge of anything.still i hate that character. And i am not a fan of reverse harem from the beginning. Still this was something which picked my interset. Yeah make her dumb but not that much that if any guy want to force his way out through her and she still says o there was bug.this is hilarious.and the writer trying to make each character fall for her and Season 2 there were more new character who fell for her and in the end of season 2 they introduced 3 more character who may fall for her in th future.this is enough.without introducing so much character writer need to focus on the story line. And everyone one has a dignity.i mean i am seriously saying if ever katarina gonna mary geordo in future and if she becomes queen. Still a fool soldier can come and rape her and still she will say that was a bug.and the most i hated scene from my pov where keith tried to pushed his sister against bed.yeah i know he is her adopted brother but still has to know he have to behave like a little brother as Katarina parents raised him well with their daughter. He need to respect their parents choices. Katarina never acknowledge keith anything more than little brother. And he need to respect his sis choice. Full and final i can watch Katarina with only Geordo as she is the Fiancee of prince Geordo and Childhood friend you can say. He has definitely the rights to stay beside her.i seriously swear if this continues like adding new characters and make each fall for her and Fall for her is a one thing but to tried to do anything like sora.i will Give it a 1 star rating From every account i can create. The writer here seriously knows how to ruin a unique isekai series and my one of the best waifu katarina. They messed up the story and are continuing to do so. Thats all if ever this got a sequel i know what its story will be that how each character fall in love with her.i am expecting nothing new from the upcoming series.keep it up and i will make sure to 1 Star it. I can only See katarina with Geordo and nothing else. Thats all.

This is a bizarre and rare isekai. Really I've never seen anything like it and it was a blast to watch! No epic fights or serious drama but that's part of it's charm! It is a great anime to unwind and laugh a little! And since there is no fanservice it can also be watched by young viewers! All in all masterpiece.

In general I really enjoyed watching this Anime. However, as in many of this type with a proclaimed-"Villainess"-storys the Villainess is just a relabeled Hero that should have been a Villainess in the original. For me this was no problem, but it is to be kept in mind when wanting to watch. Further, I like that the reincarnation stuff is rather a side factor and not crucial to the story.
Next, the characters are all very well written imo. The main character is veey adorable but in later episodes I would have wished for some growth in her - it is sadly missing or I missed it. While on the topic of missing things the second season feels like it is missing a real drive or goal. First season was great since the Doom Flags needed to be worked against but after it was clear that she basically won her personality became rather annoying.

This anime series is centred on Katarina Claes; she is the only daughter in a noble family and her life is changed after she hits her head as a child... She suddenly remembers her past life and realises that her current life is following the plot of her favourite game. This is not good as she is in the part of the villainess; a character doomed to exile at best or possibly death! As various other game characters come into her life she tries to find a way of avoiding these cruel fates.
There are plenty of anime series where characters are reincarnated into a fantasy world but this manages to bring something new to the genre; our protagonist doesn't know she has reincarnated till she is a few years old and more importantly she isn't destined to be a hero; she can only hope to use the knowledge to save herself. Katarina is a likable main character and the supporting cast are fun too. The story moves at a fairly gentle pace although things inevitably pick up as the end approaches and the sense of threat rises. The animation is good and the character designs are suitably distinctive. Overall I'd recommend this to fans of the genre who want a series that is character led rather than merely action.
These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.

After an accident as a young child, the bratty noble girl Catarina Claes remembers her past life as a romance video game nerd. She finds out that the is destined to become the villainess of the magical academy romance game she played in her previous life and endeavours to avoid all the 'Doom Flags' that would lead to a bad ending. However, Catarina is as oblivious as she is dense. Her cheerful and likeable personality have her befriend (and accidentally seduce) all the characters of the video game without her even noticing.
The premise of 'My Next Life as a Villainess' (also known as 'Hamefura') is a fairly interesting deviation from the usual Isekai tropes, and Catarina is a likeable main character. That the various romances evolve into an 'inverse harem' not only with the male but also the female characters of the show is another unexpected but welcome deviation from the norm. That is, unfortunately, pretty much everything the show has to speak for itself.
While the first episodes are fairly fun, showing how Catarina befriends what are supposed to be both her romantic rivals or eventual murderers, 'Hamefura' quickly simmers down into a fairly slow slice of life show that doesn't really do much of anything. The quirky protagonist and some running gags are all that remain to keep the audience's interest. At least in my case, I fast-forwarded through the last few episodes of the first season and decided to outright ignore the second (allegedly considerably worse) one.
From a technical standpoint, there isn't much to say. The art style is somewhat unique, reminding me of crayons, but not all that stunning. The English dub gets the job done but certainly won't win any awards. The rest... well, it's a simple show only meant to serve as light entertainment. It's certainly not bad, but I also wouldn't call it all that good. I'm sure I'll have entirely forgotten about 'Hamefura' in a few weeks' time.

This show is adorable, witty, innocent, and funny. I can see the second season as being a line up for a very exciting third season. Plus, the 2nd season really helps you get to know some of the main characters and their relationships better, as well as introduces a few fun new ones.

I actually despise reverse harem. So at first I didn't want to watch it. But some people suggested me to give it a shot. Then I watched and to be honest it was good and enjoyable. Even so if you despise reverse harem like me still give it a shot you might find it funny and interesting.
Such a good story plot!! I love the princess/romance/comedy which ends up being life threatening for the main character. I'm always on edge that she might not make it to the next level. I finished season 1 and I'm so excited to start season 2!! So thankful for season 2s release, I'm ready with my popcorn M&M binge night lol
Thank you creator for sharing this amazing anime for ppl to watch <333.
Saw it 4 years after it aired. I loved the comedy, the quirkiness of the character and just how good it makes you feel. The first season helps set up everyone specially the three episode. The opening and background music is on point for all scenes. Animation looks pretty flesh out specially the quirky scenes complement the comedic lines.
If you're seeing it again, then you know what I mean. I've seen the series 6 times and I always grin from ear to ear at the cast's antics.
I seriously can't recommend it enough. Catarina shines in every scene but second best is Mary. Villainess anime are where it's at.

If your into action packed anime full of fighting, monsters and overpowered MCs, this is not for you. However, if you enjoy more day-in-the-life stories with a side of comedy and romance, I would highly recommend this.
On top of having individually engaging characters, a quirky, enjoyable concept, great animation, and a magnificent score, the heroine isn't typically over-powered or overly intelligent. She's just a nice (if oblivious) girl who draws people towards her with her kindness. I'm also a massive fan of the fact that, despite there being multiple leading women in the series, not one of them is given inflated chests that defy the laws of gravity, as is typical for most anime, these days.
That is not to say the series doesn't have it's flaws, such as it's rather repetitive themes, as well as the lack of drama and conflict, but I'm hoping with the darker episodes of season 2, a third season will improve upon this. (if we get a third season, that is.)

What's going on? I'm a 17 y/o Otaku chick who got struck on the head. Why am I now 8 years old and living in an opulent mansion in a positively Victorian society?
They are calling her Claes Catarina - "Cat". Why does that sound familiar? Wait a minute❕ Pampered lifestyle setting... Her name... Bump on the forehead... This is all exactly like that game she played. Claes Catarina is the /Villainess/ of the game. She had four love interests:
1. Stuart Geordo. "As long as I'm at your side, I'll never know boredom in all of my days," he assured her.
2. His younger twin brother, Alan, is in the mix. "Listen, it's not like I was looking for you or anything, okay? I just happen to be passing by."
3. Claes Keith. Claes? Yep, he's her brother. BROTHER❕❔S'all good. He's adopted. "So, would you like to play with me, Miss?"
4. Ascart Nicol, son of the Premier. "You have such fantastic ideas."
I'm 7 minutes in and already sense one of the themes is that men are utterly clueless about mean girls. I mean, she's a VILLAINESS. Why are they all hanging around?
Anyway, in the Geordo branch of the game it either ends with Cat getting stripped of all possessions and exiled, allowing the heroine (Mary) to marry Geo (😁happy ending), or Cat attacks the heroine with a knife and Geo stabs and kills Cat (😌slightly less happy ending).
Cat does NOT want to play this game.
Okay. Problem solve: What are Cat's options? She can't break off the engagement. Not easily. It was arranged. She'll have to attend Magic School - that's mandatory for every child with magical ability. Cat manifested her earth magic at the age of 5, she /has/ to go to school. She considers NOT bullying the heroine (naturally) but she knows that's not enough. Geo is tricky and two-faced. Their engagement was arranged before they were 10 years old. He'll probably set her up so that he can be with the heroine...
Cat has resolved herself to get strong. It isn't the entire remedy, but it's a major component of it.
Sword fighting.. magic... general knowledge... she must be strong in every way possible. (While watching, I outstretched my arm, formed a fist, and pulled it in quickly, with a robust "YES!!!" That's ALWAYS the answer: Work on yourself).
Based on a light novel, MNLAAVARLTD is a 2020 release that is rated 7.25 on MAL. It is 2 seasons consisting of 25 24-minute English dubbed episodes with CC available. I selected this because I had just watched 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy!-7.9, and I absolutely adored it. This show is nothing like 7th Time Loop, though.
Soon, this tweenie has the entire household in a state of flux. She's gardening, she's fighting the practice dummy everyday, she's reading, she's working out spells. She ain't the same person.
She's also on an agenda to keep suitors 1-4 away from the heroine. If they are NOT attracted to Mary, she has a much better chance of making it out alive.
Cat makes 2 friends. Maria Campbell and she bond over gardening. Sophia Ascart would have also been an otaku in 21st century Japan. Cat and Sophie Bond over romance novels and all types of reading material. Maria joins in and the three of them become close. Quite conveniently, Sophie's older brother is Nico, Bachelor #4. Cat is drawn to Nico who is dark, quiet, and somewhat serious, but utterly beautiful to look upon. Officially, he has a bit of a sister complex. He looks out for his sister who is albino. Being different looking has brought hurtful, negative attention from her peers. The fact that Cat is kind to Sophie has already started to win Nico's heart.
We see them interact as kids. Before ep3 concludes we jump to them in their teen years. Cat turns 15. She's about to enter Hogwarts - excuse me, /Otome/ academy. School is where THE GAME is going to really begin. Magic is divided into five parts, we learn: Earth, Wind, Fire, Water, & Light.
Mary is the game's protagonist. She's special, and at school we finally meet this girl whom everyone is destined to fall for. She's a commoner. It is uncommon for a commoner to manifest magical ability. Even more uncommon is the fact that Mary is a light magic user. That's absolutely RARE.
Hand scratched up, dirt under the nails, shabby clothes, dried grass in the hair... Claes Catarina, in this iteration, is obsessed with gardening and farming. Her mother is practically scandalized. Even the servants are aghast. She even has a garden at school, though it's probably against the rules. We learn that Cat used to be a brat, but after she was hit on the head when she was young, her personality changed - completely. She's actually made the whole household more joyous. At one point, her mom comments that Cat's parents even get along better now. They are more open and honest with eachother.
The only person anyone seems to be falling in love with is Cat. She isn't focused on romance at all, however. She's just trying to survive, and in order to do that, she is trying to be the most gracious, genuine, caring, and overall wonderful person that she can be. People are noticing. In ep11 we get to hear how much she means to each character. It's very sweet and I enjoyed it. The entire episode is lovely. Katarina is actually a lovely role model. She's caring, vivacious, and industrious.
I'm sad to report that the show stays in the shallow end. Things are kept simple. They don't get into too much detail in school. - it's more of a summary outline. Viewers are just quick-dunk tourists in this world, we aren't immersed. That's fine, but it lowers the degree of difficulty and thus the potential maximum score.
The art is mostly standard and drawn for fantasy and cuteness as much as reality. Backgrounds are medium detail and very much backgroundy. They aren't a focus.
This is put forward as a romance, but it is not. It is on a kid level. As of ep8 I considered dropping it, but opted to finish S1. The plot concept is good and the characters are better than average. Other than that, the writing is weak. Past the barebones concept, the plot is unconvincing and lackluster. It jumps from plot point to plot point with poor or no connections. It isn't cohesive. It's too close to being like a bad Saturday morning cartoon. In the end, they spring a bad guy on us out of nowhere. The last 2 episodes are much darker. Simplicity. Games. Magic School. Kid-like voices. This is on a tween level: The show is mostly for the 9-13 crowd, but it could be too scary for some. My vote is that it's hardly worth watching, no matter the age level. There's too many better things out there.

Age 13+ This is appropriate for tweens until the last episode. There's a dark magic ritual including murder, acquiring dark magic, and attempting to transfer one sick child's mind into another well child's body. Another caveat is that in ep10 the prospect of dark magic is raised. To wield dark magic, human sacrifice is required, we hear.
One last notable: in the dubbing one character's name is "Serious Deek" with a strong "eee" sound, but on the closed captioning (which most kids would never see) it's transcribed as ...🥁🥁🥁... "Serious D!ck." 😆 Rating: PG-13 - Teens 13 or older

Absolutely lovely and hilarious main character, surrounded unfortunately by a dozen of indistinguishable, stereotyped and useless other characters. If you like me watch season 2 after a few months from season 1, you won't even remember their names or who they are.
The first season is ok, because there's a plot, but the second is awful, because there's no plot at all (and unfortunately it's not a slice of life anime), so they decided to rehash part of the first season throwing in another half dozen of random useless and indistinguishable characters. This only make things even worse. It became like "War and Peace" by Tolstoj, but withot the good story, interesting characters, or the war!
It became so boring and unwatchable that I abandoned this anime.
