Definitely Arthouse

Saw the film not once, but twice.

As a film editor, there were some details, especially in the editing, that I couldn't realize the first time, because the story was so complicated, although it was narrated smoothly and beautifully.

At the end, every time it left me with more to think and more to thank.

A beautiful and modern visual representation of a human situation and a day to day struggles we all have seen. Although it was well wrapped in story that almost everyone can relate to.

Literally, Charming

I can summarize this film as: Spiritual reckoning with the past through literature... Meaningful, intense, complicated, sophisticated, intelligence et cetera... It was a good experience. Thank you Mr Soysal.

Beautifully executed, masterfully told story

It's captivating to watch the main character Hayati's story, as he struggles through a marriage and ends up discovering the real reason about his father's suicide. He seems to be "weak" in relation to his dominant wife, who rightfully resents Hayati for not delivering the things he promised.

He seems unable to take a stand in the face of challenges of life and a bit lost in his own dreamy & idealistic & intellectual world. Just as he seems "incompetent" and "impotent," however, he is able to show rare courage by admitting to a crime he didn't commit.

The director wants us to reflect on the question of whether we are responsible for actions we didn't take. It's not only our actions that place responsibility on our shoulders but also the things we didn't do.

The story weaves together themes such as love, marriage, longing, idealism, power dynamics, repression, torture etc. Most striking theme, however, is how one can/should feel responsibility for things he/she didn't do.

Great story, beautiful cinematography.

Love it!

Astonishingly beautiful

There is a perfect unity in the movie, I watched it without getting bored. Serdar Orcin is an actor to be congratulated. Unfortunately it won't be very popular. Because we only watched 3 people in the cinema. Maybe it's better this way :)

An impressive drama about life with literature

The silent tree is a very attractive and impressive film that the audience gets involved with the problem of the main character of the film (Hayati) from the beginning. The right and good performances of the actors, the emotional and soulful music and the creative direction of the film have made it a worthy work to be admired and watched several times.

This movie was so good that I watched it lovingly, enjoyed it and remembered it. I connected and identified with the story and the main character so much that I fell into a deep dream while watching it and saw myself in the form of that character. I will never forget the experience of watching this movie; A film that seemed to be a reflection of a part of my being.

The character of "Hayati" is a talented writer whose secrets and issues in the past have prevented him from writing. His only book, which was a successful work and won awards, was written two years ago and since then, he has not even managed to write a short story! He has a failed marriage and his wife plans to divorce him after two years of love life. "Hayati" with all his intelligence and artistic literacy, disillusioned with his life, walks aimlessly in the streets of the city and tries to revive the dead tree of his mother's house, but none of these events are a vital issue for "Hayati". He is only looking for the answer to an old secret, and in the meantime, when he meets Ahmed's fiance "Serap", suddenly all the regrets and failures of his life come alive in his mind.

The movie was so sad and touching that I could not control and hide my emotions. In three scenes of the movie, I cried and cried silently. The music of the film is very beautiful and soulful and reflects the inner feelings of the characters and their mental states and invites the audience to accompany them. Also, the acting of the actors is very believable, pleasant and lovable.

Memorable past

It is a great piece of art film . Smooth & attractive storytelling which I never got tired during it. Story is very close to our life. How past, parents & society exist in our life and can change everything. The film is a good choice for those who love literature & also bookworms. I saw myself in Hayati because parts of my life is similar to him. I recommend this ilm for those who like artistic movies... The film reminds atmosphere of some of Nuri Bilge Jeilan films or even Abbas Kiarostami. Directing & Acting is well enough that you never stay out of the film's world... You can not guess what will happen next. The theme of silent tree is in accordance with the main problem of the first role. He can not bypass the past and memory of his father's death has affected the whole of his life. Family, tradition, religious beliefs & culture are factors which influence life of these people. I watched the film in a private screening with almost 100 audience & all of them remained silent & focused to the film from A-Z.

human value

Yeah, I think everybody should watch this movie because of the point that main character focus on. He asks if it is important for us to feel remorse for things we have not done.

I think it is important and it is a human value that should be taken into consideration all over the world.

Because sometimes being silent and passive is considered a form of oppression.

This point is very thought-provoking and I think that in the current situation of the world, we need to tell this to many people.

Because one of the problems in today's world is people's inaction.

People are used to looking at the most cruel events against humanity from behind the monitors of mobile phones and computers and only react to these events with likes and comments.
