Migrants feels more like a concept piece or a showcase of the creators' ability to produce stunning visuals. And in that regard, it absolutely delivers-the visuals in this short space-themed film are truly breathtaking.
However, when it comes to story, there really isn't much to speak of. We see spacecrafts and a planet, but no living beings, and the only sign of human presence is the narrator's voice.
The musical score is quite traditional, vaguely reminiscent of the space scenes in 2001: A Space Odyssey, which-combined with the narration-gives the short a documentary-like feel.
Ultimately, there's not much to enjoy here beyond the visuals.

Huge , huge fan of "Tetra Vall" here, which still stand strong 16 years later. It was the type of short that would make you want to know about the universe it was set in, had genre-defining VFX, and took you in for a ride.
This? this is a CGI test to show that some friends of Oats Production can CGI. There's nothing more to it. Sadly, that CGI doesn't look any different than your run of the mill hollywood movie. Maybe that's impressive because it was done on a low budget, or rendered on a ZX spectrum or whatever - but here's the thing - no one cares about this anymore, we get it: technology has gone a long way. More than disappointing.
