"Make Me a Sandwich" is about a verbally abusive man who watches TV and constantly demands that his wife make him a sandwich and bring it to him. He's an a-hole and his wife naturally hates always having to do what he says. I don't wanna spoil the film, but I was kinda confused while watching it until its dark twist ending, which made sense.
The acting, cinematography, editing, and such are all good. It did not come across as a comedic film to me, although the fantastic ending is a bit darkly funny. It kinda reminds me of a famous horror film, but I won't say which one because, again, I want to avoid spoilers. "Make Me a Sandwich" is only a few minutes long and I recommend watching it.

I loved this film! I would've never been able to come up with a cool concept like this. It seems as if the woman has dealt with so much abuse from her husband in the past, her trauma is permanent, she can't escape the cycle even though he isn't exactly there. What seems like a simple demand quickly takes a dark turn when she begins poisoning the sandwiches and it doesn't affect him, only to find out he was dead and decaying the entire time, and yet she continues to make sandwiches. Whoever made this film and the storyline is an absolute genius, and I will be subscribing to their YouTube Channel to see what else they have in store.
The premise holds promise as a short story. I like Marcy as Anne Shepherd.
The twist is unexpected - so, well done there, I suppose. But it's also just... boring. If it's intended to be creepy - it's not. Those few frames are like looking at the album cover for a third-rate shock rock band; these moments of film are as flat and dull as it would appear as the image on a glossy insert.
Apart from the obvious thematic components of an abusive marriage and revenge served cold, I think what we're supposed to take away from this is some measure of visceral reaction from the sandwiches an increasingly put-upon Marcy prepares for Johnson (Peter Hodgins). Maybe someone who is extra squeamish, or who has a weak constitution, finds these sandwiches disgusting or cringe-worthy, and in so doing fulfills the presumed intent of the short. But I just found it rather ho-hum. No, I wouldn't eat those sandwiches. Yes, I see what the end result of Marcy's escalating behavior is. So what?
Horror as a genre is built on getting a response out of its audience, one way or another. For a viewer to be bored watching a horror feature of any length is the ultimate killing blow. 'Make me a sandwich' needed a lot more of... anything.
This is a waste of 3 minutes as a viewer. I hope the filmmakers didn't spend any longer than that making it.

The message remains, in the case of this short horror, the most important. The abuse of a husband against his wife and the cure of the demands. The work of lady in a small space to her job. And the end , creepy , off course but precise. A portrait of mariage. Maybe, a too familiar one.
So this is a very quick little horror short but it sure gets its tone across fast and builds up to its twist very well for just a few minutes. You can pick up that there's something a little extra 'off' about the scenario and maybe even where it's heading, as soon as the foul man eats the sandwiches containing the increasingly hazardous contents without reacting whatsoever, but it's still a really good buildup to the big ghoulish reveal! It felt to me like a black comedy just by how the demented husband hilariously screams out his orders for a never ending supply of sandwiches, I thought the actor was Richard Dreyfus, it tickled me to picture him playing a crazy bit part like that. It's a little on the grim and sad side at the end I thought, all the poor women wanted was to just have her peaceful little sewing room for herself. It was like she was stuck in an endless loop reliving her nightmare over and over again, he had that strong a hold over her that for her it still wasn't over even after he was long dead, she still heard him screaming in her head like an abusive tyrant, it's a pretty creepy concept. Very well made little short, one that proves you don't need a lot to make something eerie and effective. That's 8 killer sandwiches out of 10 for me! Worth checking out x.
