Lacks authenticity in every way possible. Visually failed in hair and make up, lighting design, production design and costumes. Pearl earrings for a servant girl? Plastic was not invented till the 60s and there is no way she could afford real pearl earrings. You can tell the walls are newly painted and way too white. Neon Orange curtains, The paintings are so colorful they look like modern paintings of old buildings. Neon pink lipstick, black undereye eye liner, red dyed hair, and basically not a single female character with natural looking make up. You also can't light a period film with such strong studio lighting, like it's an episode of Barátok Közt.

When you have the privilige to work on a period film, that requires triple the budget of a modern day film, you don't waste your money on people who don't do their research. This is money thrown out the window, it is utterly devastating.

Also the acting is painful to watch.

I get it that directors usually don't give a frick about design, because they don't understand it, how it works and how much work is put into it. But at the end of the day when their films are unwatchable, I think they should rethink why they are in the film industry in the first place. Film is about collaboration, and team work, creating stories that the audience believes. I believe this was shot in a studio build in the 21st century, not for a moment do I see this as a period film.
