Movie 21 out of my 100 christmas movies before Christmas day challenge with 64 days to go.
I picked this randomly and didn't know anything about it before watching it.
It had a familiar face as the lead actress and I thought the two main stars worked well together.
The movie was nice and sweet. A little flat at times but overall it was okay.
Will I watch it again? Probably not.

Hannah and Ryan were friends when they were young, then they grew apart when he moved and he got the job she wanted. Now, he is back in town and Leslie's mom hires him as a "special consultor" at the little publishing company.
This was okay. Nothing to do with the original Angel Falls. In fact, it could be seen without watching the other one first. They do share the city and the concept, but that's it. I like Jen Lilley, I think she is great. But, honestly, i'm getting tired of her. I want Hallmark to expand their leads a little. My favourite part was Carlo Marks. His character was very cheerful. I also thought they had great chemistry.
I do think that the Angel character was completely unnecessary in this case. We could have had the same result withouth him. He was the "listening" ear to Hannah.

I found nothing exceptional about this movie. There was little or no chemistry between the leads. There was nothing to explain choices at the end. The story used several of the over-used plot lines. One thing that was a little different was that the writer suffering writer's block was a third person, not the romantic leads.
I strongly suspect that the movie would have been OK for someone who doesn't binge Christmas movies, but then only OK.

This is a Hallmark holiday romance between two high school rivals and Angel Falls natives, Hannah and Ryan. The two unite to try to sign a retired author to Hannah's family publishing business during the holidays.
There are actually angels in this holiday romance that can freeze time....just thought I would mention the elephant in the room!
Otherwise these are two very attractive people who have always seemed to like one another, who get a second chance to clear up misunderstandings and get to know one another...and guess what? They are both nice AND they like each other.
Christmas backdrop for this young attractive couple to fall in love. If that is your thing, this is for you...but otherwise a middle of the road romance with no surprises.

6.7 stars.
Not good, not bad, middle of the road. If you are out of good movies to watch today and you have a few to choose from, and you're sorta bored, pick this.
I enjoy Jen Lilley and Carlo Marks together, but there is lack of enthusiasm on her part, and he smiles a lot and I'm not sure why. It's as if he is hiding something funny, or a punchline but never tells us what it is. She is very pretty, and likable however her wardrobe is strange and unflattering. I don't know why they had her wearing ugly sweaters and outfits throughout and then the last 15 minutes she looked really great. It's as if the writer intended that her emotional transformation was directly linked to her wardrobe.
At the end when there is a major misunderstanding, it was awkward and unrealistic. First we have her decade long misunderstanding, which is an "understatement" and his own personal problems which were never explored. We don't really know anything about what motivates him. Does she motivate him? You coulda fooled me. Why are people so untrusting and so untrustworthy even after basically pinky swearing that they will not be so?
There is so much melodrama, and loss in these Hallmark films, it's so depressing sometimes. Why is there so much death, but without actual violence or gore? In other words sometimes it might be better for the audience to experience actual violence which is more realistic than everyone's closest relatives always being dead. Not everyone loses a parent or sibling before the age of 35. In fact, I bet it's actually quite uncommon in America.
Hallmark STOP killing off close family, friends, and loved ones. It's too depressing, we need happiness sometimes.
Hallmark STOP interrupting the kiss. This time it was distasteful and dumb. The director has to make a judgement call, and this was poorly executed.
But the sets were wonderful and the music, and all that jazz. Just get the story to be more smoothly produced into a watchable thing.
I might watch this in 10 years. Actually, probably not, because in 10 years there will be at least another 50 good Hallmark Christmas movies, and so this one will never be... Goodbye 'Angel Falls: A Novel Holiday'. I won't miss you.

- WissenswertesFor thirty-five year-old Jen Lilley, this movie marks her first project after taking a brief, eight-week maternity leave after giving birth to her daughter, Julie, who came with her to set. As Lilley explains it, she was "stoked to get back in the saddle" and "fortunate" to be working on a production that was accommodating and understanding to a mother's needs. "There was no unsaid tension that I was bringing a baby [to set] and they were being genuine about it."
- PatzerIn the movie, the novel's surname is shown and stated to be Finnegan. It is listed as Sullivan in the closing cast credits.
