A very refreshing, fun show. It doesn't strive to fit 50 jokes per minute and instead employs a subtle humour that will leave you delighted. The costumes and decor are amazing and the storyline will keep you guessing.

Got to love the 70s and 80s era setting (fashion, tech gadgets, typewriters, punched card computers, typewriters, wonderful cars, etc..) !!
Space project first steps, fascination with possible life in outer space etc...
Great screenplay !
This comedy is endearing !

Very French and because of that it can appear strange at times but it's a very enjoyable watch. A few subplots keep it from becoming staid and the quirkiness and the lack of hollywood is a nice change.

I just finished Episode 1 and it was effortless to enjoy it, even with subtitles. Only 30 minutes goes by fast especially with good actors giving 100% to untypical dry humor. It's not campy or raunchy; it's good clean fun that lets us forget the horrors of the last year and the years coming; Even if we have to go back in time before all this madness took the fun out of life.
Thank you France!

Hilarious for anyone old enough to remember the technology, the hippie communes and gurus, the space programs, and everything else about 1970's!
I'm watching with subtitles, and I'm so glad it's not dubbed, because you catch all of the sarcasm, cluelessness, affection, exasperation and what have you from hearing the French.
The whole thing is brilliant. I'm watching it all over again just for the music!
The GEPAN set is amazing and funny all by itself! It's rich with color, and the gadgets are ridiculous! Don't miss Vera's phone!
It links the actual French space program, Steven Speilberg, and people who can't figure out how to play their VCR. Where else can you find that?

The most lovable characters I have met in a long time. So many clever twists and turns. The icing on the cake: best...music track...ever!

When i first saw the teaser, i thought "damn, another french comedy thingy thing". Then i started watching it and... THAT is a nice TV show, weird but refreshing entertainment. The plot is getting better in each episode, and stands between true facts ad fiction.
Great recreation of the 70s in France. The case this also convincing.
However the story is confusing and I lost interest over the episodes. Rather disappointed as I had great expectations at the beginning.

I wish this story would last for 10 seasons at least. All the characters played their roles excellently, in particular Didier and Véra. The duration of each episode is perfect. I'd rather watch 20 half an hour episodes than 10 episodes 1 hour long each. I enjoyed to see all those old citroen cars, and those old computers. Nowadays, most people start paying attention to OVNIS. I myself read a book written George Adamsky when I was a teenager in the 60's and I read and collect paper sci-fi books, ebooks and audio books. It all started in the 60's and it keeps going on ever since. OVNI(S) is well worth watching, every minute of it. It is funny and many OVNI stories are in fact described by real witness. After watching OVNI(S) for the first time, I have to watch it again, and probably again and again. I don't quite believe in ONVIS, but I wish they were true.
This is actually quite decent little sci-fi mystery show. It's easy to watch and it isn't boring, even the acting is pretty good mostly. But for the life of me, I don't find the comedy in this - unless it is to cover up the illogical and full of holes story. The plot really does jump all over the place and just completely forgets what has happened before when it suits the clearly uninspired and shortcutting writers of this show.

This was a great random found. Never heard or saw anything about it and none of my friends knew it. So I expected nothing and was pleasantly surprised. The biggest plus is the shows extremely likeable cast of characters. Add a colorful setting in the 70s. Great music. Don't forget a mystery to be solved and funny situations. That makes for a show that is in stark contrast to other modern shows who are often dark, gritty and, to be honest, quite depressing.
This was a welcome change. I have not finished season 2 but there are only a few episodes left and i hope there will be more seasons to come.

I started watching this excited about sci-fi, retro sci-fi, aliens, and what I was hoping would be an original exciting French show.
What is it thought?
1) if they wanted to rip off the X-Files, they either could have done a better job at hiding it, or could have copied it more directly. If they had copied it directly, it would have felt like "yea, okay, they wanted to copy the X-files. This isn't original, but it's still entertaining". Here, you have a clear rip off - government official sent to some cooky government side project that isn't respected and studies UFOs - but you have NONE of the entertaining parts. You have the big bad men in black, but there is none of the build up. Or rather there is no build up. At all. Everything falls flat. The only thing they keep on "building upon" is the main character's failure from the opening of Ep.1. They bring that up SO MUCH that you very much want to slap everyone, and tell them to shup up about it.
2) a clear rip off of "anything sci-fi craze". For example bringing up Schroedinger's cat as an example in physics. YO SCRIPTWRITERS - The Big Bang Theory wants its plot elements back.
3) A clear rip off of anything they could dig up in pop culture. I could count references they ripped off in North American content. For example, where they ripped off the series Wild Wild Country was so blatant, so obvious - at one point almost line by line - that it just drove me nuts. How unimaginative can the show's creators be?? And I don't even watch that many series - I can only imagine what a more in-depth reading would look like.
4) The cliches! Jesus, the cliches!
5) The anachronisms! This might not be applicable for people who don't understand French, but for example, they are sometimes using nowadays slang, nowadays thinking, etc. In the time period context. For example a 40 year old dude in that time says "un pins" for "a pin". He would not. He would have said "une épinglette". My theory is that the people who wrote and checked the script grew up in Paris and don't know French beyond the slang they commonly use. Not knowing language is only one way to be a bad writer (scriptwriter). There are other examples... too many of them.
6) SO DULL. Holy goddam is there so little going on in this series. You barely get anything more weird than stuff disappearing.
BUT the scriptwriters did one thing well enough - placing a hook at the end of each episode making you think that something interesting might happen. HEADS UP - it doesn't. Each hook only leads to more dullness. More boredom. Then you get invested and you want to keep watching only in the sad delusion that maybe, maybe all the time you wasted watching this show wasn't for nothing.
Why is this show so well rated? Maybe the people who were tricked by those hooks into watching the series didn't want to admit they saw something bad? Maybe people have no taste? Maybe people saw high production value and decent acting, and gave a good note based off of that? I don't know.
But my friendly advice? Don't watch it. It's not good. It's rare that I say "I really hope this show gets cancelled so that a decent project can get funding".
The scripts are bad, the plots are dull, the characters are flat, most of the content is ripped off... do I need to keep on going?
Oh, and also, a note for the script writers - it's nice to have one or two characters with a fondness for play on words. But tone it down. When everything everywhere can become a C- pun... tone it down, guys. Also, go read a novel and learn how to plop out a decent plot. You learned how to put in hooks, but hooks in boring stories are just that - hooks in boring stories.

Fantastic! The complexity of the characters and the way they always seem one step behind.
There were bits of natural comedy interspersed in the episodes and some life lessons along the way.
Love the title music!
Although everything isn't explained at the end, there is some closure to all the clues that the team found.
Definitely interesting for any sci-fi fan to watch.
Hope they come out with Season 2.

This is not the TV show of the year, but it is stable from the beginning till the end, without a sudden quality drop.
This is refreshing as it is a true French TV show, with all the cultural elements wrapped into it.
In brief, you're having a nice time, a nice family time.
By the way, the music (OST) is good too (i.e. Sweet electro).

I honestly don't understand how Hollywood can still be the reference point to the world cinema and Tv. I found this serie to be way better that most of the things you can find nowadays on the major streaming services. It's fresh, smart, nice with a sparkle of dry comedy that is not overflowing and well balanced through the 'unfolding of the truth'. Very European in a way, but at least not the same old crap used and reused. Cast works well and you get fond of all of them. A bit repetitive at a certain junctures but perfection doesn't exist. Summarizing: it's a warm and smart series that keeps you hooked up with stunning photography, great acting, perfect original soundtrack and wonderful alchemy between characters. Very funny inventions every now and then, strong storytelling and overall incroyable! Well done, can't wait for third season.

Wacky, wonderful, wise, endearing, magical, like other people have said. I binge watched this after Xmas and into 2023. Happy new year. I watched it over 3 days due to being laid up at home with some kind of cold. I could not have wished for anything better to be honest. What a wonderful show. Loved the cars, brick phone, tech, clothes etc from my earlier years. All main the characters were wonderful, no nasty or miserable ones. I am English and so used subtitles but that's fine, I'm used to those.
I do enjoy watching things that aren't the usual fodder, hard to put a finger on it, but quirky without being ridiculous. Well what a great show to welcome in the New Year, cheers.

A stupendous fictional breathless trip into outer space and back to the 1970s with a brilliant cast and super intelligent writing - a French TV comedy series that I hope will carry forward for more episodes - the best series I've seen so far on MHZ. I loved the UFO (OVNI) staff and every setting rife with bygone phenomena like bulky computers, big plastic dial phones, VW vans, university geniuses, LSD, David Bowie, toy pianos, pony tails, pleated hair scarves and flamingos (real ones, not granny's lawn ornaments). Didier (Melvil Poupaud) is energetically flawless as the high-powered brainiac leading the effort to clear up mountains of dusty bureaucratic files at GEPAN regarding numerous unexplained sightings in and above the French countryside.

From the colour grading, to the engaging intros and cliffhangers, to the original OST by Thylacine, OVNI(s) has been my most-enjoyed show of the year.
It blends genres of humour, espionage, with that rare-but-powerful feeling of gently touching the true mystery of unknown things. It all unfolds in its own time, so that each reveal and development feels natural.
I was so pleasantly surprised that it avoided falling into many cliched tropes. Throughout, it felt like its own original thing, without ever feeling like it was losing steam or its character. I also enjoyed how the relationships developed between the characters, though it did get a bit painful at times to watch them struggle to navigate their feelings.

Apart from being a fun, little gem of a show, this is by far the best 70's reenactment I have seen in any film/ tv show, based on how I remembered we lived it in Europe. I was a kid during the 70's and it always annoys me how awful the decade is represented on movies and series, usually by people who weren't even born and knew nothing about that era.
But that's not the case in this show, It was like if I traveled back in time!
This is a really nice sci-fi comedy. I loved the plot, I loved the characters, I loved the cast, I loved the production and the subtle humor.
And has one of the best Intro credits music, Jean Michel Jarre & Tangerine Dream!
It is too bad this wasn't renewed. Totally recommended.
