Most excellent documentary. To my knowledge at time of writing there does not exist any subs in any language not even German. But if you are a fan of Krautrock it matters little as there are many music cuts here studding the interviews. The 6-hour doku is subdivided; the first hour is about bands which only sang in German and were often Folk-oriented; then new sounds new bands; the fifth is about Metal bands or Hard Rock as it was once termed; and we finish with the Cosmic Brothers here the Berlin School (Ash Ra Tempel/Klaus Schulze/Cluster/Popol Vuh(Munich)/Tangerine Dream/Faust(Wümme)/Organisation). Personally I found the final episode the most rivetting due to the bands dealt with here; but the entire series is fascinating and although my knowledge of German is nowhere near good enough to understand the interviews probably I have nonetheless watched it 12 times or more in full as there are so few excellent docs on the topic (BBC Krautrock The Rebirth of Germany being the other one that springs to mind). Anyway if you are a fan you will make a beeline for this one and you will watch it again and again trying to bring back the magic of those times and bands; or if younger to discover those music heroes of the 60/70s.
