Such a waste of acting talent in this Lifetime movie,,,,, and I wish we hadn't bothered watching it! Bad script and so many plot holes!
Ok, so the acting is pretty good, especially for this genre. With the notable exception of the "newscaster" character. Yikes. But the WRITING, my gosh - the writing is just horrible! The dialog is stilted and ridiculous. Probably the most laughable part is the main character's boutique name: Juvenile Shop. Seriously!
This wasn't too bad for a Lifetime movie until around the last half hour. Then, it just became totally stupid. You're watching it while thinking "what???" And, then it's over without answering all these questions. Very disappointing.
But the execution left a lot to be desired. I just cannot abide idiotic characters. Sometimes Lifetime has movies that hit all the right notes like Dying to Be You. Then they have movies like this one where you have to accept illogical actions in order for the plot to "work." I don't want to rehash the plot because this comes on often enough that you can catch it, but Karina was not a smart protag and made some truly terrible decisions. Nothing she did seemed like the natural reaction to the events happening around her. She's the protag sure, but I ultimately just wanted the little girl to be rescued even if not by her and her husband.
Lena was a decent villain and she played the creepy and evasive role pretty well. I have been a fan of Bree W since OLTL (she's one of the rare recasts that worked) and this movie and Killer in My Home have been so disappointing.

Here we have the same old formulaic, generic Lifetime movie. We have the usual obsessed or crazy bad guy or girl. Then we have the usual tactic where one person suspects the bad person is bad, but their friend/spouse/boy or girlfriend doesn't. Of course, there is always a friend or relative close to the main character, too. When that person finds out something about the bad person, they don't or can't tell the main character right away (it's amazing how often people don't have their cell phones with them, or ignore calls, at critical moments in these movies). Nope, that would be too easy. Instead, they have to wait long enough for the bad person to kill or injure them before they can warn anyone about what they found out.
Then we have the too quick, unsatisfying ending after the last commercial, featuring a - Girl Fight!
Plot holes? People acting illogically? Unresolved plot points where we just cut to a happy ending? Of course.
The writers of these movies obviously have a short list of character types and plot formulas to follow. But I guess it works, or people (including me!) wouldn't keep watching these oh-so-similar movies that have slight variations on the same themes.
In this case, the writers didn't even bother with any variations or attempts at originality. Just straight formula. So, if you like these kinds of movies, this is...another one.
