Love the fact this couple is preserving historic homes, sometimes 150 years old. Ashley is somewhat annoying, like Chip is to Joanna Gaines in Fixer Upper, but I find the elements of this show more interesting than Fixer Upper simply because of the age of the homes.
It is a fun and interesting show. And personally, Ashley doesn't bother me as much as Chip Gaines. He's so over the top most of the time.
I'm well into season four and looking forward to season five and Restoring Galveston hotel edition. It will be interesting to see how they renovate an historic hotel and bring it into the modern era.

I'm not sure why y'all are calling it big Texas fix because on my provider it's called Restoring Galveston.
Restoring Galveston is a very sweet show I like the fact that they take these old houses and make them practically new again and a classic sense. Restoring Windows and old doors salvaging and saving materials that can be used on the current job or on future jobs is a great idea. The show is wonderful and the husband and wife duo are adorable. Stain glass windows, gingerbread architectural designs and other things make this show really great and really authentic. I love watching them work on the old 1800s houses.

The series is now airing as Restoring Galveston and showing on the Magnolia Network.
I really enjoy this show, particularly since we live on the mainland and I've always liked Galveston. The young couple are relatable and very likeable to me as they skillfully undertake the restoration of some really old houses, some possibly of historical significance, for resale or even reuse as bed and breakfast accomodations.
Many of the beautiful old houses are scheduled by the city of Galveston for demolition but renovating them benefits the area as a whole.
I'm not usually into these types of renovation shows, or anything else on the Gaines' Magnolia channel but this one is good.

I just found this show and really liked it. They are really
special in the way they get along and enjoy what they
do. I have watched all the episodes and hope they return
for the upcoming season. Thanks HGTV and DIY for some
good family entertainment.
One of the best HGTV shows!! I watch every time it's on and they do a wonderful job! Thanks again for another great show!!
These kids are great! They aren't stuck doing modern-contemporary design; they respect a building's design and remodel accordingly, much like "Home Town". The homes aren't cookie cutter like all the other HGTV shows. And Ashley will do anything for ice cream! Watch this!
As a native Houstonian and frequent Galveston visitor, I am proud supporter of this show! I adore older homes that have character and history. Ashley and Michael are pros at balancing new design with old world charm. They can take a 100 year old shack and transform it into a work of art.
Ashley and Michael are fun to watch. They are yin and yang as they navigate the craziness of home flipping. I love their work and can't wait to see what they do next.

This show is fantastic! These two are very creative and industrious. They definitely deserve a third season. I've noticed a few negative reviews, citing Ashley as being a bit too "loud". Don't believe it. Meow! Their claws are out for some reason. Ashley is a delight and her enthusiasm and creativity really make this show worth watching.
Someone really needs to take the initiative and post their second season here on IMDB. For the second season, the show changed name to "Restoring Galveston". Who's in charge of this?

This is a great show but Ashley gets on your nerves halfway through each episode - why does she have to yell everything? She overpowers her husband, who I think is quite charming and needs to be on camera more. Ashley dial it back! Relax!

Wife and I recently discovered this show and have fallen in love with it. The projects are great and we love seeing the old, unique houses brought back to life. Wishing someone would do this with my home town of Galena Park!!!!
Michael seems very knowledgeable and skilled in his work, and Ashley is very creative with the decor. She has a great eye for detail, and to me, is very engaging on camera.
Hope there is a third season in the future.

This is a very entertaining show but some of it is also annoying. Why can't these episodes be played in chronological order? Does she ever shut up? She seems intelligent but also arrogant. She is dismissive and disrespectful to Michael. I wonder how he deals with it 24/7. Michael seems to know what he's doing and if he doesn't he researches for answers. The houses they restore always look great. She wants to inject rustic primitive in areas that clash with that aesthetic. Once again, her constant talking is very annoying. I hope she can be reined in to make viewing better or watch on mute!!!!!

Season three, episode eight - LOT PROBLEMS... Ashley was completely and totally arrogant about canceling the order for their cabinets in the kitchen without even consulting with Michael. She said it was his project and she just trounced all over his ideas. She kept saying how much she hated the house and she kept looking for negatives instead of the positives. Michael just kept trying to tell her how much he's always wanted to fix this house up and she still dumped all over it. Ashley just did whatever she wanted without any input from him. She does that in a lot of the episodes I watch and it's very annoying. She talks over him, and it seems like the show is all about her. It shows a very major lack of respect. That's another thing, these shows ought to be run in some kind of order because I have been recording them. One episode she's pregnant the next episode she's not pregnant and on and on and on . It's very unnerving and not fun to watch. Some of their decorating ideas really suck. Putting shelving over windows in the kitchen. Major mistake. Also leaving up multicolored wood on the walls and then putting these little stupid sayings on the bathroom floors. I would not buy a house like that.

I'm from Texas so having a Texas-based DIY show based here is great. But am not into this show. I love the concept...reviving Galveston homes....! However, Ashley is TOO much...it's like she's trying too hard to be funny, engaging, etc. She needs to lower her volume...she screams everything!!! Her husband is better....quieter, more laid-back!!!

I love the show and what it represents. I am all for restoring old historic buildings, to preserve the history and culture.
The hosts are very creative and resourceful. My big pet peeve is Ashley.
She is loud, I feel like she suffers from severe ADD or ADHD.
Her attitude kills all the joy in watching this show. She gets on my nerves the minute she opens her loud mouth.
A little bit more grace and lover volume would go a long way.
She can also stop flexing her biceps all the time. We know she's got them.
I look forward to future episodes hopefully with restraint Ashley.

I personally find this show boring and the design is less than average. I do not understand the 10/10 reviews.
Where do I start? Let's list their idiotic choices for their kitchens first, then I will explain why. Marble counter tops, butcher block counter tops, open shelving, hardwood floors, wasted space, and covering up parts of windows with cabinets. Ok first item, marble counter tops are horrid. It is an incredibly soft stone, so it breaks and chips very easily. It also permanently stains very easily. It works great for 1 thing, a baking center. Butcher block counter tops are equally stupid in a kitchen. Both marble and butcher block cannot be sanitized since they are both pores, so NEVER use either for meat products. Butcher block takes LOTS of work, and even if well maintained will look really bad within a year. The issue is water. Butcher blocks will be water stained, no matter how well you keep them up. Next we move on to open shelves in a kitchen. What moron thought these are a good idea. There is a reason there are doors on cabinets, and it isn't to hide what's inside them. IT IS TO KEEP STUFF CLEAN! I have seen them put open shelves above a stove, REALLY? Hardwood floors in a kitchen.... See butcher block counter tops! Wasted space, is simply not using the space efficiently for a given space. For instance, making a 7 foot exhaust fan all the way to the ceiling. Mount the duct work behind cabinets and have the cabinets above the stove. The dumbest thing of all, placing a cabinet over the window..... How are you suppose to wash the window? How stupid is this.... Don't waste your time with these idiots.

This is possibly the worst home improvement show on tv right now. It's as bad if not worse than 'Flipping Vegas'. Horrible!!!

Wow! How can anyone find this show entertaining? It certainly isn't informative. This couple seems to be of barely average capabilities which in no way qualifies them to have their own TV show. You can find dozens of people in any area who are better qualified.
As a couple, they're so average and uninteresting. He is okay, she is, as others here have said, too over the top and lacking the personality to pull it off.
Wow. I'm watching one now and I can't believe how boring it is. Why do all these producers think incessant YAK YAK YAK makes television that is even barely watchable?
Well, in a world where the Gaines can become media juggernauts, you can't expect much.

The first season is so underwhelming. The designs and esthetics aren't even close to good, good enough for its own show. I hope the following seasons are better.
The major issues with the esthetic is how the designer thinks too highly of her capabilities. I can tell she has no formal training and no natural gifts of a designer eye because whewww. Also, I can appreciate the profession of architects. There is a reason they are needed because most people have no idea how to properly layout a space. This couple has no idea how to properly utilize space. The one room where this is critically needed is in a bathroom. All of their designs so far in season 1. The sink, toilet and tub are all lined up on the same wall. This ginormous empty space everywhere else in the bathroom.
Illogical choices for kitchen layout and options. One kitchen had zero upper cabinets, which is fine if there is lots of bottom cabinets or a pantry. In this case, there was neither. And you'd think, well maybe they didn't have the space, but this wasn't the case because they specifically had the space in the original kitchen but chose to move the kitchen and then handicap it with limited storage space.
Oh and that hideous faux brick floor project was peek cringe.
I think this couple's designs are not worthy to carry an entire show.
