Batman’s rogues’ gallery is already stacked with some of the most iconic villains in comic book history. But this time, horror maestro Mike Flanagan is bringing Clayface to life, as one of the creepiest, and most tragic villains. Known for being the mastermind behind The Haunting of Hill House and Doctor Sleep, Flanagan has revealed that his script for the live-action take on Clayface was inspired directly by Batman: The Animated Series.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Mike Flanagan mentioned that the shapeshifting villain draws from the unforgettable two-part episode Feat of Clay. For Flanagan, that storyline, voiced so memorably by Ron Perlman, was the version that defined the character, mixing tragic humanity with grotesque horror.

Filming is now officially underway on DC Studios' Clayface, and we have some new photos and a video from the Liverpool set.

The video shows a crowd gathered outside the entrance to Gotham General, as a patient on a stretcher is rushed inside. One of the photos also features a man with bandages around his head, who may or may not be Tom Rhys Harries (or his stand-in) as Matt Hagen.

Even if it's a different character altogether, there's a good chance this scene focuses on Hagen being attended to after suffering the "accident" that will ultimately lead to his Clayface transformation.

He died unexpectedly on Aug. 14 following a heart attack, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

With a sprawling career of four decades, Dossick worked with clients in the entertainment and media industries. He further specialized in intellectual property litigation and general commercial disputes.

Most notably, Dossick represented Angelina Jolie in her 2011 copyright infringement lawsuit over In the Land of Blood and Honey, which served as her directorial debut. (She won the suit in 2013 that alleged she violated copyright on Croatian journalist James Braddock’s novel, The Soul Shattering.) Following the recent news that Naomi Ackie is in talks to join the cast of DC Studios' Clayface movie, we're hearing that Max Minghella is also being eyed for a key role.

According to Nexus Point News, Minghella would play a character named John, "a detective and fiancé to Caitlin Bates, who’s suspicious of his fiancée’s relationship with Matt Hagen/Clayface."

We're not sure if Minghella is actually in negotiations as of yet, but Ackie is now believed to have been officially offered the role of Bates, while Tom Rhys Harries will play Hagen.

Max Minghella, the Emmy-nominated Handmaid’s Tale actor, is in talks to join DC Studios’ Clayface, which will hit theaters September 11, 2026.

A deal hasn’t closed yet, but when it’s finaled, Minghella would join Tom Rhys Harries, who has the title role in the James Watkins-directed genre movie, andMickey 17‘s Naomi Ackie.

Long known as a villain to Batman, Clayface was semi-successful actor in the comics. After turning to a life of crime, he takes on the identity of a character he once portrayed in a horror movie. The nemesis has appeared in myriad DC series, animated works, videos games and other media throughout the years.

Following the recent news that Naomi Ackie is in talks to join the cast of DC Studios' Clayface movie, we're hearing that Max Minghella is also being eyed for a key role.

According to Nexus Point News, Minghella would play a character named John, "a detective and fiancé to Caitlin Bates, who’s suspicious of his fiancée’s relationship with Matt Hagen/Clayface."

We're not sure if Minghella is actually in negotiations as of yet, but Ackie is now believed to have been officially offered the role of Bates, while Tom Rhys Harries will play Hagen.

Though this is just a rumor for now, the source has been scooping the trades with major casting news for months at this stage, so we're inclined to believe this is on the level.

Halsey will celebrate the 10th anniversary of her debut album Badlands with a new reissue project featuring previously unreleased demos and other rarities.

Badlands: Anthology is set to arrive Aug. 29 as a triple-disc vinyl set. It’ll include the original breakthrough album, orchestral versions of several songs, and demos of tracks like “Drive,” “Ghost,” “Hurricane,” and “Trouble.”

Among the rarities are “You(th),” a song previously released on an old Badlands box set, and “Garden,” which Halsey only made available on a CD shared with fans on her 2016 European tour.

A recent string of anime and manga cancellations and delays has affected another series: Go For It, Nakamura! The boys-love romantic comedy manga was planned to debut in 2025, but, according to a report posted by Anime News Network, production issues have delayed the anime's release until 2026.

The original manga by Syundei gained quite a following, so fans were elated by the news of the upcoming anime adaptation. Unfortunately, Go For It, Nakamura! will be available much later than anyone expected because of the production challenges that Drive, the studio responsible for the adaptation, is currently facing.

Naomi Ackie is currently in early talks and is being eyed to star opposite Tom Rhys Harries in DC Studios’ “Clayface,” TheWrap has learned.

“Clayface” centers on Matt Hagen (Rhys Harries), a rising actor whose life is upended after a brutal attack leaves him disfigured. Ackie would play Dr. Caitlin Bates, an original character and biotech CEO who serves as Hagen’s love interest.

James Watkins, who directed last year’s remake of the Danish thriller “Speak No Evil” for Universal, is set to direct. Screenwriter Hossein Amini, best known for scripting 2011’s “Drive,” wrote the most recent draft of “Clayface.” Mike Flanagan wrote the previous draft of the script.

The film will be produced by Matt Reeves and Lynn Harris, with production commencing this fall.
