Fair Exchange

The Bundys pocket $500 a month by taking in foreign exchange student Yvette (Milla Jovovich). However, Kelly's social life takes a turn for the worse when the cool boys at school start to date Yvette instead, leaving Kelly with no option but to date nerds.

Fair Exchange is one of the funnier episodes of Season four, as Yvette works her magic on all the boys at School (and Bud at home), leaving Kelly to watch helplessly from the side-lines. In the end, Kelly has to resort to underhand tactics to get rid of the competition, and this leads to my favourite line: "She even flunked French".

The only issue I have with the episode is with the casting of Milla, who is undeniably attractive, but way too young for the role at just fourteen: it feels awkward when the audience whistles and whoops when she takes off her coat and the high-school guys start to paw at her, or when Bud drills a hole in the wall so he can peep at her. They should have got someone closer to Christina Applegate's age.

Who could be hotter than Kelly Bundy? French exchange student Yvette played by Milla Jovovich in one of her earliest roles years prior to the "Resident Evil" series. The always hungry Bundy's get the bright idea of sponsoring a foreign exchange student for $500 a month. As long as Al and Peggy are eating, they could care less about Yvette who sleeps next to the Dodge in the freezing garage.

Kelly plays big sister and gets a shock when Yvette reveals herself a bombshell stealing Kelly's thunder. Naturally Bud is agog especially after Yvette informs him it is okay to peep at her. What is astounding is Jovovich is just 14-years-old here and blows away a then 18-year-old Christina Applegate. One actress became a movie star while the other basically stayed in television.

Funny episode featuring some good banter between Marcy and Steve.

They could have made this into a two episode deal. Milla Jovovich plays a French foreign exchange student who is staying in the Bundys' garage and burning wood for warmth. By having a foreign exchange student, the Bundys get $500 a month. Now, they can eat in style. Al has never been happier neither has Bud. The problem with the foreign exchange student is Kelly who is now replaced at school as the popular date among the men. She is now dating geeks especially one into pencils. Bud loves having her stay in the garage where he can peep and she doesn't mind. Steve and Marcy think she's Al's mistress and give out information for Peggy to get a good divorce attorney.
