As Gere's and Dane's characters are in the car chasing after Custis, Custis hurls a garbage can at the windshield. We see from the inside as the windshield becomes a spiderweb of cracks, thus causing Gere to careen into the conveniently located pile of soft garbage nearby. The pair leaps out of the car and the windshield is suddenly repaired.

Erroll Babbage: People like Paul and Viola Gerard don't just tell lies, they *are* lies. In public they're decent, socially-responsible folk who look you in the eye, but never long enough to make you uncomfortable. They shake your hand, pat you on the back, but never overdo it. They're Christian if you are, they swear if you do, and they do this because people like you wrongly believe that public presentation tell us all about private lives.

Alternative Versionen
After the film was released in European and Asian markets, several portions of the film were reshot and the entire film was basically reedited. The result is that the tone of the US version is less bleak and grim.

I'm Not Going To Bother Watching This Till The End

So there you are, in a car, driving after a guy who is running down a back-street and who has just been doing nasty things to a girl who was tied up by her wrists to a wall. You really, really, want to catch this guy 'cause he's a mean bugger. So you're driving and he's running, and as you get close to him he has the cheek to pick up a rubbish bin - you know, one of the small metal "trash cans' that you see in every back-street.

So when this desperado throws the trash can at your car, what do you do?

I'll tell you what I would do. I'd keep going straight and run the bugger down! But what does Richard Gere do? He's turns sharp left and crashes into a pile of rubbish, gets out of his car and lets the guy get away.

Who the hell wrote that piece of this pathetic script? Too unbelievable. I guess that's why I've never heard of this film.

Please try to choose better scripts, Mr Gere. You're a great actor - you just need to be more picky.
