When Bouchard is on Tom Berry's show and gives out his phone number for the tattoo killer, his lip movement seems different from what he actually says. According to the DVD commentaries, in the take, Patrick Huard actually gave his personal cell phone number. The fake number was dubbed over it.

Rick Mercer's character 'Tom Berry' seems to be a spoof of outspoken, inflammatory and flamboyantly-dressed Ontario hockey commentator Don Cherry.

In the English audio commentary, the director/producer make light of the different accents in the movie. They point out that the Tattoo Killer has an "accent" speaking both English and French; they wrote him as a Franco-Manitoban.

When Buttman is videoconferencing with Mr. Arbusto (Spanish for Bush...) the Texan says "I don't want you to misunderestimate how grateful I am." One of President George W. Bush's many notable malapropisms was the use of misunderestimate, which is not a real word.

The Harry Buttman character is a parody of real-life NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.
