Gumbuster

A streetcleaner hates gum littering the streets and picks it all up – but then he discovers a hidden talent the gum has – singing. It is a very strange idea and the delivery makes no more sense of it than that one sentence. The plot is meaningless but does allow for cute animation and comic invention, which is what this film is all about as a student piece. It shows the director's ability as an animator and allows her to lay out style. It looks a bit rough and there isn't much to it but that is to be expected if not forgiven. Worth seeing if you like animations on a student level but the casual viewer will probably wonder "what the f**k was that about?"

GUMBUSTER is about a street cleaner who scrapes up the discarded chewing gum left on the pavement and right away I had this short film sussed as being about the cleaner becoming more and more frustrated at ignorant people spitting out gum that he becomes some sort of violent vigilante , but this isn't what happens at all .

GUMBUSTER is a rather charming animated short film and the fact that the characters speak in a strange incomprehensible language just adds to its charm . While the animation may not be that great the characters from the chewing gum to the people who strangely resemble frogs in my mind are very likable and very likable is probably the best way to describe this cartoon , even if it never becomes entirely credible
