In the seventh season four participants played the final instead of the regular three. 1 winner, 1 mole and 2 runner-ups. This happened also in the 20th season (2020).

In an early season, Neelie Kroes was approached to be the mole, but declined.

In the twelfth season (2012) only female participants reached the final. This happened for the second time in the 21st season (2021). Up till now there was never a final with only male participants.

Won the 2013 Golden Televizier-ring award, the Dutch equivalent of the Emmy Awards for best programme of the year, after nominations in the years: 2001, 2002, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

In season 18 the two candidates in the finale didn't know who the Mol (Mole) was on location but back in The Netherlands. So the Mol couldn't say anything until the finale in Amsterdam almost a whole year later and these candidates had to wait longer to know the answer than previous seasons.
