Though I found this movie very cute and had a good story line... it totally distorted what figure skating is all about. Many people think that figure skating is a independent sport which it is as you are not on a team but skaters tend to encourage each help each other and give others tips to succeed when they share ice time. There may be enemies between people but it's like that with every sport. The image they portray about the competition, coaches and friendships between figure skaters is simply inaccurate.
This movie was entertaining (as other users have stated)! Although some of the information, in the movie, was inaccurate, some of it was true.
The way the writers and characters explained the life of the figure skaters and of the hockey players was kind of confusing, considering all the back and forth of the backgrounds and time periods. Also as another user commented, why wouldn't a teacher or a normal person walking in the hallway ask why the girl was covered in purple paint. Most teachers are worried about the well being of the students. They have to be a little more realistic and explain a little more about what is going on. And, most figure skaters aren't so much about make up and "GLITTER". It's about fulfilling your dreams at what you are good at.
Although I don't know too much about judging movies, this movies had a good point and had a good "lesson" to learn. It was a little enlightening but it didn't have a very good focal point. It also didn't go too much into detail about the main character's life, so we/the viewer could know more about the persons background and what she has accomplished before she went to her new school.
Well as I have already stated, this movie was good, but it needed to be more realistic and self explanatory.

This was a Disney Channel Original Movie, so it can't be expected to be a masterpiece, but it was entertaining and had a good theme.
It centers around Katelin who is one of the best figure skaters around where she lives. A Russian figure skating coach decides to help make her the best, but her parents won't pay for her to go to boarding school. By pulling a few strings Natasha(the Russian coach) manages to get her a full scholarship at the same school, but for hockey instead. Katelin has to work extra hard if she wants to be the best. As well as keeping it a secret that she's a figure skater because all the girls on the hockey team despise figure skaters.
The movie was good. The story was somewhat unrealistic(like in the aspect that she gets a full scholarship for a hockey team), but not way predictable. It entertained me and had me rooting for Katelin. I'd recommend it to all kids around 14 or so and younger. And to parents if they can understand that it's aimed at the kids and not them.

I watched this because Kristi Yamaguchi was in it. I follow figure skating fairly closely and enjoy skating myself when my health permits.
I found the story entertaining and fulfilling, but the movie is full of inaccuracies as far as the world of figure skating goes at least as far as I have seen things myself. Although Tanya Harding's actions brought the world's attention to figure skating, she is an anomaly. Figure skaters do not generally try to hinder their competition, at least not so blatantly. Rather there is quite bit of camaraderie among skaters.
The national competition is a several-day event. Each skater must skate at least two programmes. This is done on different days. I'm not familiar with the schedules for school hockey, so I don't know when their championship would take place. The national skating championship typically takes place in January. They take place at a large public arena, not a small rink like the one used in the movie.
I was also somewhat incredulous that when the skater showed up all covered in paint someone didn't ask "What happened to you?"
Enjoy the movie but don't base your ideas about the world of figure skating on it.

I am a figure skater and i love to watch figure skating movies. Out of all of the figure skating movies i found this move called GO FIGURE the best movie i have ever saw it was very very funny and the message getting across is if you really want something and your determined to pursuit it you would do what ever it takes just to fulfill your dreams like with Katelyn she is is figure skater and to be able to train with the best coach she has to become a hockey player and took the risk of switching ice roles. This movie is the movie that made me want to become a figure skater. Now because of this movie i have tried skating and it was my HIDDEN NATURAL GIFT in only 6 months i am an advanced skater in a figure skating club which is like a team past the lessons and the easy levels. And remember FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS do whatever it takes to make them come true
