The character Wayne, who works at the video store with Jude and Wyatt (and later becomes more frequent of a character), is based on and heavily similar to Jack Black's character in High Fidelity (2000). They look the same, sound the same, and are both sarcastic, annoying, yet likeable know-it-alls.
This series was animated using the partially-developed software ToonBoom Harmony (previously known as ToonBoom Symphony). The same staff would later use this software for 3 other Nelvana series, Detentionaire (2011), Geheimcode: Gittigitt (2006) and Corn & Peg (2019), along with Fresh TV series Stoked (2009).
Ron the rent-a-cop suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder throughout the series, as well as frequent visual Vietnam War flashbacks in which he was tortured and held hostage. This was not merely character development; the Ron character was based on real-life actor Christopher Walken, and the war flashbacks were included as a nod to Walken's award-winning 1970's performance in the film The Deer Hunter, where he played a young Soviet-American war vet who was tortured and held hostage during the Vietnam War.
6Teen was Christian Potenza's first iconic role as a voice actor. After voicing Jude from 6Teen, he has voiced many other iconic characters from Canadian cartoons such as Chris McLean from Total Drama Island (2007) and Zed Point Conasty from Detentionaire (2011).
Much like Teletoon's other teenager cartoons, Stoked (2009) and Detentionaire (2011), 6Teen was ultimately cancelled due to its performance in the United States. When Cartoon Network bought the rights to air 6Teen in the United States, they aired the episodes out of order, and the episodes were heavily censored with only 79 of them making it. This led to a low performance in the United States and ultimately, its cancellation.
