The first Bollywood film to premiere at the Kara Film Festival in Karachi, Pakistan.
Paap is very much inspired from the movie Witness 1985. Even some of the scenes is exactly same. Govinda's Hatya also inspired by the same film. Rajesh Khanna was remaking the Hollywood movie "Witness" starring Harrison Ford. The film was titled Police Ke Peeche Police. When he realized Govinda was inspired by the same movie and making Hatya", he shelved his film. Vinod Khanna's C.I.D. was also inspired by that movie.
Pooja Bhatt wanted Bipasha Basu for the film but Bipasha quoted a very high price.
The whole storyline of the movie was totally copied from the second half of the movie Sadak (1991). Directed by Mahesh Bhatt. But climax was very differnt.
Fiza - Tu Fiza Hai antras were made into "Sun-e-Mere Dil" from Paap (2003). Also the tune for Tu Fiza Hai has been in countless Anu Malik songs in the 80s, and some in early 90s, notably "Kitabein Bahut Si" from Baazigar (1993) and "Aap Ka Chehra" from Talhalka.
