This is a fun movie, I think you'll enjoy it - provided you don't mind roadkill closeups. I'm not squeamish, but DANG... that's a lot of roadkill!
So, these two guys. Will Wallace as Bucky and Joe Unger as Earl, have a prime local government job that requires them to scoop roadkill from the roadside for deposition in a landfill. Everything is awesome for them until they face competition - and unemployment - due to pending acquisition of a roadkill scooping machine.
Now, that sounds like a ready made comedy-action film right there, but on top of that, they find a dead hot chick on the side of the road. Post handling, they "get their DNA all over her" and panic and so... well, the rest is worth watching.
This is a fun, campy film for persons with a twisted sense of humor. I particularly enjoyed Joe Unger's work - he really sells the roadkill supervisor role!
Definitely not for opossums, raccoons or armadillos though!!!
PS - I'm editing this review to note that this movie apparently contains more than one original song that I can't find anywhere - I would buy copies if I could, they're that good ("the call of my heart is calling me home...").

This was actually a well done, decently acted little indie thriller. Bizarre and traumatizing to me (If you love animals, it will traumatize the hell outta ya for REAL). I literally had to look in the end credits for that line that says NO ANIMALS WERE HARMED, because the FX were too well done and I even had to turn away a few times. Good story, that kept you guessing and will give you the willies. Seriously, interesting, some likable characters, sad, mysterious and traumatizing in more than one way. Much darker feel than Coen brothers work that some compared it to. I Say Watch it, if you have a strong stomach.
This film absolutely deserves to find an audience. It's not perfect, but it's a lot more challenging and entertaining than 90 percent of the stuff floating around out there. Joe Unger, an extremely under-appreciated actor, has a terrific role and delivers a performance to match. Most of the cast is solid, including indie favorite Duane Jackson. The movie looks great and the Texas setting couldn't have been filmed better. (It reminds me a lot of a crackerjack Joe Lansdale Texas tale.) A very good, knowing movie that includes a lot of detail that adds depth to the story. The filmmakers know the terrain where their story unfolds and they skillfully capture both the people and the place. Good writing. Good (most of the time) acting. Excellent photography. I recommend this one for anyone looking for something different.
This movie is quite a surprise and under-valued little twisted, mystery-thriller indie. It has some really sad and broken characters, but it does have a lesson about friendship and who to trust, or not. And a lot of secrets and skeletons in the closet. A few of the characters are quite likable and that one woman has a great voice. I couldn't help but clap for her. But the animal FXs are too well done and quite horrific and traumatizing for animal lovers like me, I literally had to look away a few times, despite my life long love of all things horror. I had to check the end credits to make sure NO ANIMALS WERE HARMED. This is a Very DArk, story and NOT for kids eyes or for the squeamish either. It's much darker than most of the Coen films that it's been compared to. But really overall well done little mystery-who-done-it and CREEPY as all Get out, will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. If that sounds interesting to you, then watch it, because it is worth a Watch for Sure!
First I'd like to re-iterate the previous comments, they are spot on. Joe Unger is fabulous.
Indeed the film is a challenge, but I steer away from films that give you everything on a platter, those that leave the viewer with no questions to ask either of himself or the filmmaker's intent.
I caught this one at a film festival where it was hands-down, the best. When it becomes available, I will definitely add Broke Sky to my DVD collection.
It wasn't until about halfway through the film that I realized how powerful and innovative that the music was. It didn't upstage but added an enormous amount of subtle thematic emotion. I'd really like a soundtrack CD.
