What would it be like for an Indian youth to have a spirited, smart and naughty woman to suddenly pop up in his neighbourhood? 'Nokketha Dhoorathu Kannum Nattu' manages to capture his emotions well, as well as the male ego at being beaten in every prank and joke she plays. But why is she here to suddenly visit her grandmother? Why does she bear with her cantankerous grandmother to win her over? The answers may leave you wishing that the fun and games just went on and on. Director Fazil may have been inspired by 'Terms of Endearment', released a year before this movie. But even if that is the case, he has certainly made better use of the theme.

This is a Malayalam language film starring Mohanlal, Padmini and Nadia Moidu.

Even before Mohanlal became a superstar with the 1988 film Chitram, he had worked in many notable films through the decade after his debut in 1981. This film which is written and directed by Fazil (he even plays a supporting cast role in it) is one such. It is remembered more for being the breakthrough film of Nadia Moidu and for her versatile performance.

The film is a comedy in the first half and melodramatic in the second half. Reminds a bit of the Hindi film Mili with Jaya Bhaduri - Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan. The heroine in this film also is a bubbly and mischievous girl who pesters the youngsters next door to no end. Only to reveal that she is hiding the pain of terminal illness behind this cheer.

It's a complete entertainer with good music also. An excellent watch.

It's a classic piece of work, I have watched lot of movies in different languages but this one is really awesome. My eyes were filled with tears at the end of the movie. Nadia Moidu and Padmini have acted so well and at times they really depict the real life of a typical grandma and her granddaughter. Mohanlal also acted well. The movie has hence become a masterpiece of the great director Fazil. Sreekumar's and Gaily's love is the other highlight in the movie. Love for Gaily has only increased when the hero came to know about her pathetic disease. The director has successfully utilized the acting skill of both actors to the core when expressing their love for each other. The grandma hope her granddaughter will surely win the disease and come back to her. I am waiting for the 2nd part to come but no idea about:(

A girl comes from Bombay to meet her grand mother in a village. She is coming to the village for the first time in her life. At first grandmother doesn't like her. because she or her parents have not came to village for a long time. Actually they have not visited the village after they have moved to Bombay. Then she will become friendly with grand mother and with others in the village. She will get the company of few naughty kids in the village. And there is a Small mishap. There is some romance. But her Grandmother didn't know the real reason why she came from Bombay to village. you will have to see the movie to know that.

Its a really nice movie to watch
