Thomas and Susan have fallen in love, but their relationship is an interracial on, families on both sides have issues, but love always finds a way.
After watching the entire Love thy Neighbour series, I was expecting something similar, don't get me wrong, there are issues, but it doesn't quite have the same intensity.
I was unaware of the existence of Mixed Blessings, until I went digging for more of Joan Sanderson's work, I will forever be a fan of hers and am working through her back catalogue, I wouldn't say she's a huge presence here, but she's certainly a significant character.
I'm so glad I watched it, a brilliant first episode, a super sweet final episode, some classics in between.
A truly wonderful cast, everyone involved is on point, not one weak link. Odunton and Blake worked so well together, they're such a sweet, lovable and attractive couple, who couldn't help but adore them.
Christopher Blake would later star in another family sitcom, 'That's my boy,'alongside Mollie Sugden, I would argue this is a much better show than that, the humour is a little sharper here, definitely smarter.
I suppose you could say that mixed race relationships were less common in the 70's, nowadays it's not an issue for any right minded person, fortunately times have changed.
9/10.
