During most of the filming of the shootout and chase in the beginning of the movie, temperatures were at and below zero.
Writer/Director Scott Wiper and actor Andre Braugher had the same agent and Braugher got Wiper's script for this film and was very interested in the project while he was still starring on the TV series, Homicide: Life On The Street even-though the project did not have the funding it needed to start filming at that time. Braugher stayed all the way through the film until it's completion and became very close friends with Wiper.
Writer/Director Scott Wiper described his character of Boomer as "a guy who is down and out and rises through the ugliness at the end of the film for some sort of penance"
After about two years of looking for funding, Scott Wiper finally got the money in early 1999 to complete the film as he had hoped with the original footage that he shot in early 1997 to be used to open the film. Filming officially commenced in September 1999.
Writer/Director Scott Wiper said that there were more scenes shot with Natasha Henstridge to establish the love story between Boomer and Kelly but unfortunately had to be cut for pace issues.
