    Joe Bob Briggs For President!

Ah, yes, Joe Bob Briggs, host of TNT's Monstervision!

The show was a great movie show and Joe Bob was a great horror movie host. I liked the episodes where he sat outside his trailer instead of inside it. That's a weird quirk for me, but I liked the outside of the trailer rather than inside it.

Joe Bob was and is a great movie host like Commander USA but the show got a bit dull towards the end of its run. They started doing this annoying shot towards the end of the series where they would cut to Joe Bob after a commercial and then pan past some tacky looking scrub brush and up to Joe Bob sitting outside his trailer. What was with that shot? Maybe I'm nitpicking but that annoyed the hell outta me.

And the banter with Reno the mail girl was great. I never liked Rusty the mail girl though. She was just an annoying bimbette. Long live Reno and long live Joe Bob!

And I especially loved the Monstervision music video. With the song lyrics "tearin' the heart out of Saturday Night". I guess it was just more of an extended promo for the show, but I still dug it!

    Shame on TNT

TNT pulled this great Saturday night show off the air and now they have a big hole there. Hosted by Joe Bob Briggs it generally featured films of a creepy nature but also included Sci-Fi and even at times comedies. Joe Bob of course made the show what it was with help from his various Monster vision mail girls. Once there were a number of Monster movie programs that featured colorful hosts like on this show. Now with this one gone it looks like that complete era may be done for good.

    Pre-Joe Bob

Nobody here seems to remember MonsterVision before Joe Bob Briggs. While he is, by far, the most memorable host they ever had, there lots of great ones before like Penn and Teller.

One time they hosted "Night of the Lepus" a crappy flick about giant killer rabbits. Before the commercial break, Penn and Teller demonstrated how the special effects were done. He let a group of rabbits loose in a miniature town set and screamed like crazy "everybody run! killer Rabbits!!!" It was absolutely hysterical.

During that time, they played classic monster movies, some really great ones like The Blob and The Thing, but also lots of really bad ones like The Cyclops and The Giant Claw. One time they played Godzilla marathons all night, the last Saturday of every month.

It wasn't until Job Bob took over the show, when they started playing slasher flicks like Friday the 13th. His drive in totals are now infamous.

Great memories. Wish TNT would bring it back.
    Weirdo-x

A television show with everyone's favorite drive-in critic as the host.

I've been watching this show for three years now, and I simply love it because of how funny Joe Bob Briggs is. In fact, he's my idol now.

Every Saturday night I tune into TNT to watch the cheesy flicks he hosts, and I like only SOME of the ones he plays. My favorite segments in his show are when he reads some fain mail on the air with Rusty the Mailgirl (because I send some in) and when he does the Drive-In Totals for a film he shows. I hope that "Monstervision" remains to be the longest running television series, as long as everyone's favorite funny man stays as host. It wouldn't be the same without him. You can also catch Mr. Briggs make cameo appearances in films such like "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2", "Casino", "The Great Outdoors", and "Face/Off".

Right next to Howard Stern, Joe Bob Briggs may top over the classy radio DJ as the "King of all Media".

I miss MONSTERVISION....and JOE BOB BRIGGS!!!!

MONSTERVISION was a great cable show that had a guy named Joe Bob Briggs sittin around a trailer drinkin cheap beer and commenting on old horror movies(some of them good, some of them middle-of-the-road,some of them bad...but so bad they are good,y'know???) Although SOME of the movies were entertaining the real reason to watch was the wise-cracks joe Bob would make about the movies. Before the movie would start he would tell ya a little something about the flick, and then hold up a chart that told you pretty much how people in the flick would meet thier demise.(If you cared about the "element of surprise" you didnt watch this part, which is a shame cuz it was the funniest part). For instance,he held up a chart that would say 1 Decapitation, 2 knife wounds, 1 hammer in the eye and 1 kick in the groin. Then the movie would start...sometimes good, sometimes bad...then they would go to break, and before the movie would start again they would show Joe Bob drinkin his cheap beer and laughing about something that had been in the clip of movie they had just shown. If someone had a really dumb line, or if there was a big plot problem he would point it out. He was really very funny and had a good banter with the others on the show...as well as cast and crew. I remember once they showed RAISING CAIN,a movie I had already seen...so I taped it and fast fowarded through the movie parts and just watched the Joe Bob parts. This was a good show to tape. That way even if you didnt care for the movie you could watch Joe Bob crack wise. In my opinion Joe Bob needs a new show.(if I had the funding,I'D give him one). When that day comes I will gladly be his mail girl.
