Belli e brutti ridono tutti

I planned to watch this with an ironic outlook, and to see some retro ambiances and fashion. I couldn't make it past the first episode. The recipe of the "commedia all'italiana" boils down to assemble some really beautiful women, some really ugly older men (probably to avoid threatening the delicate ego of the male spectators of that era) and to have them saying some mildly osé words, cavorting and eventually going to bed -- mostly offscreen -- in unions so mismatched and unlikely and aspirational that you will be a bit sick in your mouth.

Plot? Narrative? Character development? Humour? You can forget about those.

This director has also made some comedies and some "poliziotteschi" which are still eminently watchable. Unfortunately I can't say the same of this utter bore.
