A tree that isn't good for the environment.

A Saiyan named Taurus has invaded Earth in order to plant a tree that will both destroy the planet and give Taurus strength a hundred-fold. Goku and the Z fighters aren't going to let this happen and duke it out with Taurus's group for the sake of the Earth.

This movie has more alternate storytelling than the previous movie did. As the movie went, it has little connection to the anime series than the whole meeting Icarus part in the movie, who only appears during the Garlic Jr. Saga.

That and the introduction of Taurus who only appeared in this movie and was never mentioned during the first 3 seasons of the anime. As he and his minions wear the same uniform for Frieza, but they never mentioned their leader even though it's obvious who they work for.

So in short, the Dragon Ball fans will enjoy this title for an alternate storyline movie.

This is the only movie (and only time in all DBZ, for that matter) in which Yamcha wears a Gi with the turtle symbol on the front and the King Kai symbol on the back. His Gi of choice after being resurrected in the series is the opposite (Kai in front, turtle at the back - and he is the only character to wear a Gi of this style).

Patzer
Gohan doesn't detransform when Turles destroys the Power Ball. This contradicts every other Great Ape transformation in the entire series, in which if the moonlight source is eliminated, detransformation happens instantly.

Crazy Credits
While other DBZ movies just used whatever opening went with the show at the time the movie was release, Tree of Might features a specially-made opening, featuring the Z-Fighters gathering the Dragon Balls to restore the destroyed forest.

Alternative Versionen
Two version were released in the USA. One version was a three-part mini-series for the series syndication run. It was edited for violence and Gohan's nudity when he changes back from transforming into the massive ape. An uncut version was released on video and DVD which was more faithful to the original Japanese version.
