So this is for Lost Movie Hounds and for the Clea DuVall fans. This "lost film" can be found in UCLA film and television archive. You can easily set up a screening by emailing them. But let me just warn you it's not worth it!
I know it's probably disappointing to hear after looking for this movie for years but narratively this movie is a bit of a mess! This film while made in 1998 feels less like a film of that time and more like one of the early 90's teen/20 somethings dramas. You know those ones that are light on comedy and high on angst. Clea is woman that is in college, in a deadbeat relationship and is looking for real love. Seems like a simple enough plot, oh but just wait till all the side character's and never ending subplots start steam rolling through. They're impossible to keep up with and not interesting enough to even care about. All of these stories go absolutely nowhere. And that's where the majority of the problems lie.
Now for the positives. Clea is her typical 90's self here. And more a less is the whole reason to watch this film. She's pretty good here. It's just a shame that they frequently shift focus from her story because it's honestly the only interesting one going on here. Amy Smart is charming as always. Wish there was more here for her but the little she does is good. James DuVal is a fun but shallow character that typically comes in just to tell some dude that he slept with his old lady. Melissa Auf der Maur is here from the band Hole. She has a random date with Clea that unfortunately goes nowhere. And criminally underused and easily the best part of the movie, Ethan Embry who plays a nerd that wants to bang Clea (who doesn't) and criticizes her boyfriend's sexual performance any chance he gets. He only has two scenes so get ready to be disappointed.
And ofcourse there's more actors and more subplots that I could go into but honestly I couldn't find myself caring enough about anymore of it. Sorry to be the barrier of bad news but now I know why this movie is hard to find. It's pretty bad! So stop searching too hard for this one. Some trash is meant not to be found.
