Tauno Palo plays Aarno Harjus whose wife Niina, played by Mirjami Kuosmanen leaves her husband and moves into world of crimes.Aarno is left alone with his daughter Annika.The poor man, who's also fired from the bank is helped by detective Viljami Erä (Ossi Elstelä).He also happens to write songs and Aarno is a perfect man to be singing his songs.And there's also the pretty nurse Rauni Verkkola (Eila Peitsalo) to help him in his heartache.Edvin Laine's Laulava sydän (1948) has a bit of crime and romance and a lot of singing.And those songs are mostly brilliant.Take the title song for instance.Beautiful.Toivo Kauppinen, Edvin's cousin is the writer of this movie.Tauno Palo is perfect in the role he plays.He was a fantastic singer and actor.Annika Sipilä, also known as Pikku-Annika is really sweet as his daughter.The young and beautiful Eila Peitsalo does great work in her debut role.Ossi Elstelä is very good as Viljami.Actor/director Wilho Ilmari plays Doctor.Actor/director Ville Salminen plays Håkansson.Then there are people like Rauha Rentola, Tarmo Manni and Ossi Runne.Laulava sydän is a great movie from the better times.In 60 years the world has changed a lot.And the movies as well.Watching these old movies takes us back to those times.
