American remake of this film was discussed with Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine in the roles of Jirí Sovák and Dana Medrická. Juraj Visny, Karel Effa and Olga Schoberová who played Superman, the gunfighter and Jessie in the original version were asked to repeat their roles. The project broke down after the occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1968.
After the success of this film, writer Milos Macourek once again wrote a comedy in which a shy and average man is confronted with comics' larger-than-life situations. As in Jessie, film Vier Morde sind genug, Liebling (1971), directed by Oldrich Lipský, once again used the skills of illustrator Kája Saudek.
The aActress who played Jessie, Olga Schoberová, became the basis for the comic character named Muriel in two comic-books scripted by Milos Macourek and illustrated by Kája Saudek: "Muriel a andelé" and "Muriel a oranzová smrt". Both books were completed in 1969, but after occupation of Czechoslovakia and subsequent changes of political clime were not allowed to be published. Both books were finally published after the Velvet revolution in Czechoslovakia.
Václav Voska was originally intended to play the role of Doc. Jindrich Beránek, but he refused with feel he is not the right candidate for such a comedic role.
