When Dysart hands Robbins a pair of Molotov Cocktails, he says they were invented by a man named "Sergei Molotov". This is, in fact, incorrect. The Molotov Cocktail was first used in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) before actually gaining this name in the Winter War (1939) between Finland and the Soviet Union. The Finns used this incendiary weapon to great effect against the Soviets and gave it the name the "Molotov Cocktail" as an insult directed towards the Soviet foreign minister, Vyacheslav Molotov. No one named Sergei was involved in the making of the weapon.
The main character was a U. S. Marine, but one of his decorations was the Distinguished Service Cross (DSC). The DSC is an Army award, as a Marine John Robbins would have been given the Navy Cross.
On the screen that the warden reads from at the beginning of the movie, Benghazi is misspelled as: "Bengasi". The screen says that the main character escaped from a level 5 and a level 6 security prison, but the warden says he escaped from: "two level 5" prisons.
