In the film's third segment, "He Who Kills," one of the museum security guards is reading a "Dark Shadows" comic book and enthuses about how he used to rush home from school to watch it. Director Dan Curtis created the two TV series Dark Shadows (1966) and Dark Shadows (1991).
The film's second segment, "Bobby," is recycled from director Dan Curtis's previous horror anthology film, Mit der Nacht kommt der Tod (1977).
In one scene in the film's third segment, "He Who Kills," Lysette Anthony said she paid a subtle homage in it to Karen Black, the star of the first film, Trilogy of Terror (1975), when she picks up a telephone receiver and crosses her eyes for a moment. She pointed this out to director Dan Curtis later during looping and he thought it was hilarious.
Lysette Anthony said that director Dan Curtis shouted and swore a lot while directing his films and was surprised to learn that people were terrified of him as a result. He also found that funny. Yet it never bothered her at all and she was very fond of him.
Lysette Anthony had previously starred as Angelique Ducard on the second version of the cult classic soap opera Dark Shadows (1966), which was also titled Dark Shadows (1991) - both of which were created by director Dan Curtis. She told Femme Fatales magazine that she had not spoken to Curtis in six years when he called her and said that he wanted her for this film. The TV network wanted a bigger name star, but Curtis fought for Anthony because he knew she had the range.
