This series only ran for about six episodes if I remember correctly, but it was too far ahead of its time to be popular in 1991. Irreverent, zany, madcap, and hilarious, I imagined this series would last a lot longer than it did.
Teri Garr did an excellent job as the star, and Lane Davies (having recently been one of the popular members of the Days of Our Lives cast before starring in G&E) did a great job as well. With a talented supporting cast, this series should've had a much bigger following.
Lane Davies played a doctor experimenting with different potions, sometimes having a Jekyll & Hyde effect on him, and Teri Garr played the perfect love interest.
If you ever have the opportunity to watch this show, it deserves a second look.

As a South African, I saw this on M-Net's Open Time, Fridays at 18:30, so the one thing I am up on you lot of Americans: I saw the whole thing, nyaah! nyaah! nyaah! Now that was years ago, so filling in the blanks here on IMDb is not going to be my strong suit, and I won't even try, even though I'm pretty sure of some facts.
It's another one of those shows that I didn't really intend to watch, but I was monitoring (with my VCR on standby) the evening's menu, M-Net Premium Time began at 19:00. I made a point of watching when I saw that this one rose far, far above the level of junk spewed out in great gobs at us. Unfortunately, I didn't record a damn thing, because with a TV series, I insisted on having the whole thing, and this only became popular with me while it was on.
So I read here the review mentioning how that person have 5 episodes and pulls out the tape every now and then, and I yell FOOL at myself for missed opportunities.
People, appreciate what you have access to! Hold on to your favorites! I could do with this show right now on a cold winter's morning, a good rollicking laugh! Heed my words!
As for the negative response for that stupid reason, there wasn't anything mean-spirited there. Screw political correctness anyway.
Unavailable on DVD? Shops, you lose! Right now, I am in a mood to buy ten copies.

Being a Teri Garr fan, I was excited to hear of a show starring her. When I saw the first episode, I was immediately hooked. The humor is wacky, hilarious, and executed perfectly by the whole cast. If you liked "Soap," you will like this show as well. I'm pretty sure it was produced by the same people. It's sad that shows of this caliber are not kept by the networks. I don't know if it has ever been shown on any of the cable or satellite channels, but if it ever is, be sure to catch it. I guarantee you will get several good laughs. Only six episodes were ever aired. I don't know if more were made or not. I was able to get 5 of the 6 when they originally were shown, and every few years I pull the tape out and watch it again. Great stuff!

This was becoming my all time favorite show (With the possible exception of Married with Children) When I tuned in to watch the 7th episode and it didn't come on I was terribly disappointed. The network big wigs who decided to end this series for reasons of political correctness have got to be some of the dumbest people in the industry.
I actually attended a taping of this new show before it ever aired. The audience received it well and I too was surprised when it was canceled. I think it had to do with scheduling. Not many people saw it. On the west coast it aired after 10 pm on a weeknight. I remember thinking it was great because it was so much like "Soap." I was upset when "Soap" was canceled too. A show completely before it's time. I'll be so glad when the fad of reality TV comes to an end and we see more situation comedies with good wacky characters. I've grown tired of seeing who can get there first, lose the most weight, or survive the longest. Let's see another Lucy, Edith, Phoebe, or Jessica Tate! Wouldn't a "Soap" reunion be great!? I think TV networks are selling out! They're saving money on having less writers and probably paying the reality "stars" less money.
