Bob is a sprite, a sentient electronic humanoid who lives in Mainframe, a city that exists in cyberspace. In Mainframe, Bob is a "Guardian" a cop whose job is to defend Mainframe and protect it's inhabitants from the evil virus Megabyte who seeks on conquering and corrupting Mainframe and all other systems and Megabyte's sister Hexadecimal. Bob is not alone. His friends are Dot Matrix, the owner of the restaurant Dot's Diner. Her kid brother Enzo. Enzo's pet dog Frisket and Bob's mentor Phong. Not only Bob defends Mainframe from Megabyte and Hexadecimal, Bob and his friends would enter Game Cubes that appear in different sectors of Mainframe and participate in games that are uploaded by the mysterious User where if the User wins, the sprites in the game get nullified. Later in the series, Bob gains new friends such as Mouse, a hacker program and gun-for-hire and AndrAla, a game sprite from a underwater game and Enzo's girlfriend. However, Enzo becomes a Guardian when Megabyte banishes Bob from Mainframe and launches him into the web in the aftermath of the Web World Wars and Enzo, AndrAla and Frisket are also lost in the web when Enzo loses in a fighting game and Enzo remakes himself into the hardened warrior known as Matrix and Enzo, AndrAla and Frisket travel from system to system as they try to get home to Mainframe and they search and find Bob.
