Billy arrives and places the crown on Mary Lou, apparently appeasing her spirit, which vanishes, releasing Vicki and what we afterwards of them dancing was to show that Mary Lou finally fulfilled her dream of becoming prom queen, but she still felt vengful towards Billy for taking away the best years of her life when she was just about to take the world by storm and actually killed Billy, possessed his body, making him her new host before driving off with the terrified Vicki and Craig.
