Originally, this was only meant to be about 20 minutes long and solely used as the feature movie in American Drive-In (1985). At some point during production, the decision was made to invest a little bit more money and come out with two full length feature films instead of just one.

The words to the song in the movie that can bring the dead back to life "Reknits Asi Einre" sounds like Latin but is actually a fun jab at lead man Ernie Curcio. During production Curcio was known to have played pranks on fellow cast members by farting on them, so as payback, the lyrics, spelled backwards, say "Ernie is a stinker".
