Marilyn Chambers is buff, shapely and apppealing as a well-meaning "sex therapist", but the unimaginative sex scenes, monotonous story, and poor production values ensure that this is a mediocre example of its genre. The acting and dialogue are acceptable, but the film never reaches any erotic (or any other kind) heights. *1/2 out of 4.

My review was written in March 1985 after watching the show on VCL-Media Home Entertainment video cassette.
"My Therapist" enters the domestic home video market after an unusual history: it was produce on videotape as a tv series titled "Love Ya, Florence Nightingale" for the Showtime pay-cable service in 1982-83, re-edited to feature length and transferred to film for foreign theatrical release a year later, and is now back in tape format.
Though a few exterior transition shots were shot on film, pic's primarily hard-edged tape look resembles a daytime soap-opera. So does the plot, in which porn star Marilyn Chambers toplines as a sex surrogate, solving various guys' problems in episodic fashion.
Principal subplot has B-picture veteran Buck Flower cast as a recently impotent country music superstar whose melodramatic adventures include marrying a teenage groupie. He is finally saved (from drugs and dissipation) by Chamber, leading to his song to her on the radio at film's end.
Chambers' off-and-on romance with Mike (David Winn) is the other main thread, as pic reveals its condensed format. Other than failed comedy, its essential purpose is to display Chambers in frequent nude scenes, augmented by softcore sex simulation for her fans. Tame by home video standards, pic exemplifies the teasingly "adult" format typical of made for pay-cable programming.
