Sleepaway Camp has enjoyed cult status these days. One of the reasons for that is its bizarre ending. Unfortunately, Anchor Bay wasn't able to release the uncut version. Until 2014, only the VHS version was completely uncensored.

In Britain the movie was released by CBS/FOX on VHS and was cut differently and more strongly but contains the missing scenes of both the UK and the US-DVD.

However, in May 2014, Scream Factory/Shout! Factory released the first-ever completely uncut DVD and Blu-ray Disc of the film in the United States. It is Region-1-/Region-A-encoded.
