Dean Martin's final outing as Matt Helm was "Rollkommando (1968)." The end of the film plugged the next planned film in the series, "The Ravagers" but when "The Wrecking Crew" actress Sharon Tate was killed by the Manson family, Martin was so disturbed that he quit the series and "The Ravagers" was never made. The TV Series, which appeared six years later, appeared long enough after the murder, that the public had largely forgotten about the event.
Irving Allen, who made the Matt Helm movies, worked on the TV series as both executive producer and executive consultant.
Based upon the character created by Donald Hamilton, although in Hamilton's novels and earlier movie series starring 'Dean Martin', Helm was a secret agent.
"Columbia" produced the Matt Helm movies and the Matt Helm TV series.
ABC ran the series Saturday nights at 10:00 p.m.
