Handlung

In the 1700s, a vampire has a son from a normal woman. The mother dies, and he spends two centuries trying to teach his meek son how to be a proper vampire but no avail. Now they have to flee from Transylvania, and they end up in France.

With angry villagers driving them away from their castle in Transylvania, Count Dracula (Christopher Lee) and his son Ferdinand (Bernard Ménez) head abroad. The Prince of Darkness ends up in London, England where he becomes a horror movie star exploiting his vampire status. His son, meanwhile, is ashamed of his roots and ends up a night watchman in Paris, France where he falls for a girl. Naturally, tensions arise when father and son are reunited and both take a liking to the same girl.

The Carpathian Mountains, Eastern Romania, 1784. Fed up with his squeamish son Ferdinand's reluctance to carry on the family's centuries-old blood-drinking tradition, the eternal Count Dracula is with his back to the wall. And then, as if trying to make a man out of his dainty 120-year-old offspring weren't challenging enough, an angry mob of Romanian communists uproot the Draculas from their ancestral home. As the father and son go their separate ways, Ferdinand struggles to make a living as an immigrant in France, while The Count becomes an overnight sensation in the British horror scene. But fate plays cruel tricks on both mortals and immortals. When a lovely lady bearing a resemblance to The Count's long-lost wife enters the picture, passions ignite. With supernatural intrigue standing in love's way, is Dracula willing to try an alternative dietary lifestyle?—Nick Riganas
