Seven Women of Different Ages

One of Kieslowski's documentary shorts, a behind-the-scenes look at a ballet school/studio. As I've said before, I don't have much interest in ballet, and this film illustrates the main reason why. The dance is less about expression and creativity and more about mathematical precision, sticking to a strict blueprint made up of a small handful of officially sanctioned moves and positions. However, it is an interesting look at the punishing routine these women (and small girls) go through, suffering for their art but obviously finding rewards in it.
