"Alicia en la España de las maravillas" (Alice in the Spain of wonders) is more an allegation but a movie of a political ideology and a vision of a concrete moment in Catalonia history. The movie was made just after Franco's death, whose dictature was still latent and was made by people with deep catalan and left-winged ideas.
The film itself is just a series of more or less surrealistic scenes that symbolize the Franco regime and its consequences, but it's more recommendable to think on the general message of the film (the ideology I've commented). Feliu does a free adaptation of the Lewis Carroll's book making his special Alice (played by 3 different actresses, who represent Catalonia, Valencia and Baleares Islands, but giving more importance to the catalan one) travel around this "wonder land" that is no other than the Spain of Franco, beginning with the horrors of the Civil War, the censorship, the hunger of the post-war times, the repression in the school, etc. In other words, EVERYTHING that represented Franquism.
Maybe not much interesting as a movie (even containing some great artistic scenes that remind to Terry Gilliam's "Brazil") but as a message, as a vision of a time and as a fierce criticism against Franco dictature is just magnificent.
