VCI Entertainment released a digitally restored edition of this film under the title "Summer School" in the DVD Spring Break Film Festival series in 2013.
Some of the teenagers seen riding skateboards in this film were actually members of the infamous Z-Boys, a crew of innovative skateboarders who went on to make a big name for themselves in the sport.
Many of the custom vans featured in this movie were created by legendary automotive designer George Barris.
The movie was co-produced by automotive legend George Barris who has a brief cameo in the film as well. Barris is best known for creating a number of famous vehicles for television shows and movies. Most notably he is known as the creator of the Batmobile for the 'Batman' (1966-1968) television series [See: Batman (1966)].
Today, Shelly Horner, who played Anita, now works in her office which is located near many of the filming locations in this film. She is now a marriage and family counselor working in the San Fernando Valley in California, USA.
