This is a shocking tale of one inmate against cruel wardens . Esperanza Roy plays a woman incarcerated for swindle . In prison she meets a motley group of women and suffering rejection from some of them : murderers (Barbara Rey) , junkies (Beatriz Rossat) , thieves (Virginia Mataix) , prostitutes , among others . Esperanza Roy , then suffers humiliations , flagellation , beating , cruelty , degradation , and mistreats by the prison wardens . Meanwhile , her unsettling father commits suicide throwing himself a railway . Shortly after , Esperanza has a sexual attraction to Barbara Rey , and both of whom fall in love . There , then , she takes on a ruthless warden , Tota Alba . The movie arises a questions : Will she come out woman or wildcat? , is the coming out good or is the coming out to avenge the torments and terrors that make a jail for women a college for the crime? .
This ¨carne Apaleada¨ contains usual ingredients of the ¨WIP¨ sub-genre : violence , sadism , physical abuse , showers , lesbianism and lots of bare breasts and female frontal nudity . Based on a novel by Inés Palou incarcerated herself in a woman's prison . She then wrote a book about it , dealing with the authentic experiences of convicts at a gaol that it is a hell in earth , which was a kind of almanac of everything she witnessed while in prison ; soon after Javier Aguirre wrote the script . Esperanza Roy gives an acceptable but exaggerated acting . In fact , the picture obtained Cinema Writers Circle Awards, Spain 1978 , CEC , Award Best Actress : Esperanza Roy and others nominations .
