    Yes. The Liberation of Lord Byron Jones (1965) was written by southern author Jesse Hill Ford (1928-1996).



    The novel is a fictionalized account of an actual killing: There was a black undertaker who want to divorce his wife for having affair with a white policeman. The undertaker was mutilated and murdered (shot) by his wife's lover. Jesse Hill Ford only changed the names and towns. The book won wide acclaim, became a best seller in 1965, and made Ford wealthy, but it did not make him popular in Humboldt. His neighbors, who knew that the novel was based on actual people and events, felt betrayed, especially after the film that gave the story wider circulation.



    Yes, the movie was filmed in Tennessee in 1969.



    When Mama asks Jelly, a young dancer with a striking resemblance to Emma, to perform a dance for Jones, Jones realizes he still loves her. After returning home, Jones confronts Emma, who has been brutally beaten by Willie Joe. The two talk, but both know it is too late. Their marriage is over.



    Steve, Nella and Sonny Boy leave town because the racism and corruption in the town. Steve discover that his uncle Hedgepath is a racist and allow a murderer (Willie Joe Worth) get away with this after his confession and his guilty. Sonny Boy final murder Bumbas by pushing him in his own harvester.
