      Lame German sex comedy

I used to think American and British sex comedies were bad until I saw this stinker, my first German sex comedy. The plot involves a count and a colonel who are fighting over the ownership of a castle for some reason, and decide to resolve the matter by betting which of them will be the first to bed one of the two daughters of the local laundry-women, who are apparently the only two virgins in town. This causes the colonel to neglect his hot-to-trot mistress played by Edwige Fenech. She takes up with his lieutenant, an excellent swordsman in more ways than one, who pretty much explodes the whole plot by de-virginizing the two laundry girls as well. It's far from over though as the girl's mother, a crooked lawyer, and the burly madam of the local brothel all get involved in the zaniness.

I suspect this movie wouldn't be too funny in German, and it's even worse with the awful English dubbing (I'd really like to find the one especially annoying guy who dubbed the manservant at the castle and countless other people in these kind of movies and beat him senseless, even if he probably is a harmless and doddering old man by now). And if you dislike the idiotic chases and pratfalls of the old "Benny Hill Show", well this makes that look sophisticated and erudite by comparison. The only saving grace is the woman. Edwige Fenech does some of the most unabashed nudity of her unabashed career--even sword-fighting in the nude at one point. The two virgins are both fresh and pretty. Then there are the prostitutes at the brothel who line up whenever a male customer comes in and spell out "Wilkommen" with letters painted on their bare butts in a running gag that isn't funny the first time (but I guess that's hardly the point).

This movie isn't THAT bad I guess. I'm not mad that I watched it (which is more I can say for a lot of recent Hollywood crap like "Closer"), but, lord knows, it's not good.

      Actor in this Movie

I met one of the actors in 1996 Ivan Nesbitt He was living alone in a rented house, by the sea in Bangor N Ireland, by this time he had fallen on bad times, and living off gov benifits. I got to know him well over about a six month period. A very photogenic man of about 6ft.6 . He told me he had been in several foreign movies ,I later found out they were mostly soft porn, and in 1999 while i was in Spain on holiday i spotted him in a Spanish western dating back to late 60s or early 70s, Clint Eastwood spaghetti type. I found him a very friendly and approachable fellow, extrovert type. I remember the last time I saw him , was one night in late summer 1997 in Bangor on the sea front,he was taking photos of advertising posters which had been pasted on unused shop windows . After that I lost contact, as I moved around the world a little. But I often wondered what became of him : If anyone has any news on him I would love to hear from them . hope someone finds this little story interesting

      JUST FOUND HIS OBITUARY

      I. Nesbitt MR. Harold Ivan Moore Nesbitt, who lately lived on Lismore Road, Bishopscourt, died on Saturday, September 5. He was 67. Born in Lisburn, at an early age he moved with his parents to Bangor, County Down, where he attended Bangor Grammar School. Graduating from secondary level education he worked as a sales representative for Gallagher’s, Belfast, until he moved to Gallagher’s London Sales Department. With all the instincts of an artist and performer he attempted to break into film acting, initially in advertising and then with various mainline film production companies, where he appeared in various walk-on parts, mainly filmed in Spain Italy and Germany. Unfortunately the ‘big break’ did not materialise, but he enjoyed the Continental way of life so much that he settled in Spain, based mainly in a remote mountain village and travelling throughout Spain and Italy as a sales representative — fluent in Spanish and with more than passable Italian. In the 1970’s, suffering from ill health, he returned to Northern Ireland and eventually settled in Lecale, where he found country life much to his liking. An open hearted man he said that he much appreciated the relaxed friendliness of local people. Although suffering physically and mentally he maintained a positive appreciation of life, rejoicing in the natural beauty of the area, working as an artist in his ‘Seasculpt Studios’ and teaching art to young people of the community. In June of this year he fell and broke a hip — at 6’5” tall and weighing 20 stone he hit the ground with massive force — and in the course of treatment in the Downe Hospital it was discovered that cancer of the oesophagus, which had appeared to have been successfully treated, had returned. Within a few short weeks of intensive care in the Ulster and Downe Hospitals his doctors had to inform him that his cancer was inoperable and untreatable. “I don’t want to go,” he said, ruefully, remembering the beauty of the world and the people he had met, but with a morphine drip killing the pain and with a profound faith in the person of Jesus he passed away peacefully some four days later. His friends will long remember him as a cheerful and positive man who thoroughly enjoyed the whole business of living, despite the pain and suffering involved. Following requiem Mass in St. Nicholas’ Church, Ardglass, celebrated by Fr Stephen Quinn from Downpatrick, his remains were buried in the adjoining cemetery. “H. Ivan Nesbitt - A Friend to Many”. Out of the treasure-box of Oswalt Kolle

Until the Sixties, explicit sexuality was forbidden in German TV. When the big revelation came in the form of the abolishment of an old law, the German Sixties saw themselves populated by an inundation of movies about seducing and seduced young girls, sexual educations movies, the series "Schulmädchenreport", "Lederhosen" movies and more. In the same Sixties, besides this genre and the other genre of cheaply made criminal stories, practically nothing had been produced that was of any value. The big authority behind the sexual movies was the still living journalist and author Oswalt Kolle (who is naughtily even mentioned in the movie for all those who are able to follow the hodgepodge of original German, dubbed German and partly Italian spoken in "Alle Kätzchen Naschen Gern" (1969)). However, the times started to change, when R.W. Fassbinder released, in the same year 1969, his first feature-long movie "Love is colder than death" for which he used elements of French New Wave.

Frankly speaking: I have no idea who came to the crazy idea to dig the Schulmädchen-, Lederhosen-, Edgar Wallace- and all the related debris from the German Sixties out again and put them on international DVDs - while at the same time substantially good movies from earlier or later times must still wait until they see the light of the world again. Well, there can be only one answer: Somebody is making money with those movies and prints them Unrestored and without any commentaries and introductions. Probably, the copyright of none of these movies has been renewed ... . Although I do not recommend this and the related movies to anyone, I have overrated it with 7 points - since for someone who lives since a long time abroad and grew up with these movies, there is the choice of Wiedersehen - especially, in the movie annotated here, with Helen Vita and Ralf Wolter with whom whole generations grew up seeing them in practically all TV productions between the 50ies and the 80ies. On top of that - I do not think that it is just to punish someone or something who or that is intellectually deficient - those persons or things are already punished by their pure existence.
