Dame Sybil Thorndike, who worked with Marilyn Monroe in "The Prince and the Showgirl," made a spirited defense of M.M. in London: "She's a true artist, a charming person, and has a quality of innocence, pathos, and sex which can't be equalled by any other performer."

Don't know but most women who worked with MM hated her and many weren't afraid to FINALLY speak the truth, as Mitzi Gaynor did. She said she hated MM, she was unprofessional; always late on the set, even though she was already in the studio, in her dressing room; she kept flirting with all the men, particularly with her husband, Jack Bean, whom Mitzi was dating at the time. Mitzi worked with her in There's No Business. Even men hated MM or working with her: most all her directors, producers, Clark Gable and Tony Curtis, to name a few.
