Viewer discretion is advised before watching not one, not two, but three exclusive clips from Garden of Eden — they contain graphic content that some may find disturbing.
Described as “‘American Horror Story‘ if it had a kinky and debaucherous fetish filled three-way with Martyrs and Hostel in a church pew,” the film hits digital this Friday, June 20, via Gravitas Ventures.
“After reading one specific scene in Garden of Eden, I knew that taking this role came along with a responsibility,” actress Gigi Gustin (The Retaliators), who appears in the first clip, tells Bloody Disgusting.
“In order to serve the story, I was going to have to be the most vulnerable I’ve ever been on screen before. I was going to have to go places emotionally that were uncomfortable, even for me, someone who’s very used to tapping into darkness for the sake of the character and the story,...

Do you like blood? Violence? Freaks of nature? Well, here at Arrow in the Head, we love all of those things – and that has inspired us to put together this list of some of The Goriest, Bloodiest Films Ever Made. Some of the movies are on here due to their historical significance, some are due to the amount of fake blood that was used during the production, and all of them are quite messy. Here we go:
Blood Feast (1963)
This is where it all began. In the late ‘50s and early ‘60s, independent filmmaker Herschell Gordon Lewis and his producing partner David F. Friedman were looking at the major movies of the day to find what they could offer the moviegoing public that the studios weren’t providing. They started out with “nudie cutie” sexploitation movies, meeting the demand for bare flesh. After taking note that violence in movies had...

Buckle up for a modern cult classic that I think many horror fans have yet to see. Now on Screambox is Sonny Laguna and Tommy Wiklund’s Wither, an extremely bloody scary tale of demonic possession that plays as a Swedish tribute to Sam Raimi’s horror classic, Evil Dead.
In the film, a couple set off to a cabin in the vast Swedish woodlands to have a fun holiday with their friends… but under the floorboards awaits an evil from Sweden’s dark past.
“The dazed young men and women soon mount their attack that includes decapitations, dismemberment, spurting blood, flailing axes and the kind of gore one does associate with Swedish cinema!”
Check out Wither, which Meagan Navarro calls “gloriously gory”, right now on Screambox alongside Herschell Gordon Lewis’s Blood Feast (and its remake), the Pet Sematary-inspired Lizzie Lazarus, several Giallo movies, the newly added and incredibly timely Street Trash remake,...

1974 remains a banner year for horror movies. This year marks the 50th anniversary of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Black Christmas, as well as smaller films like Abby, The Perfume of the Lady in Black, and Sugar Hill. Buried in that year’s releases, Frightmare stands as a unique relic, a gloriously bloody proto-slasher transmitting a macabre tale about cannibalism. Once described as a “morally repellent British horror film, without an ounce of humour” by The Times critic Philip French, the Pete Walker-directed cult classic carries the essence of 1963’s Blood Feast with its own curiously deranged skin. With the holidays in full swing, it’s time to give thanks for one of the most underrated ‘70s slashers with more going for it than meets the eye.

Uncork’d Entertainment has unleashed The Beast Inside, a powerful, female-driven horror film, On Digital and On Demand. This demonic horror breaks new ground with its focus on a fierce female protagonist who refuses to be victimized by the dark forces that threaten her and her family.
Written by and starring horror veteran Sadie Katz, known for Wrong Turn 6: The Last Resort, the Blood Feast remake, and The Amityville Harvest, The Beast Inside tells the story of Anne, a woman possessed by a demonic entity. When no one believes her, Anne is forced to take matters into her own hands and perform an exorcism on herself, all while desperately trying to protect her young son from the evil threatening their lives.
Katz’s portrayal of Anne is a tour de force of strength and resilience as she battles both the demon and the disbelief surrounding her. The film poignantly explores the terrifying reality that women,...

There is no horror author more celebrated, revered, and quoted than the famous Stephen King. Known for such scary classics as It, Christine, Carrie, Pet Sematary, and Cujo, the New York Times bestselling author has told stories that have frightened and disturbed the masses for over fifty years. King is a mainstay in the world of horror, and to date, more than one-third of his published works have been adapted into movies and/or TV shows. It's no wonder that he has extremely strong opinions when it comes to the horror genre.
Sometimes Stephen King's opinions are a little harsh and overly black and white. For instance, the author recently posted on the social media platform X that the 1963 splatter horror film Blood Feast was the worst horror movie he's ever seen. It may be a bit of an over-exaggeration to call it the worst. The movie does leave a...

Stephen King has been crowned the King of Horror for a reason. The best-selling author intimately understands the vignettes of terror that have the power to induce fear and anxiety within the human mind. Banking on this expertise, King often takes to Twitter to recommend a horror title or two and highlight overlooked genre gems from time to time. Sometimes, he even tweets about movies he doesn't like, like that one time when King mentioned the only movie he ever walked out of as an adult. In a 2021 tweet of a similar flavor, King name-dropped the worst horror movie he has ever seen:
"What is the worst horror movie you ever saw? For me, Blood Feast."
The characteristically blunt nature of King's statement might feel a bit too scathing at first, but "Blood Feast" undoubtedly lives up to its infamy. Not a competent horror film by any stretch of the imagination,...

Co-written by Sadie Katz and directed by Jim Towns, ‘The Beast Inside’ offers a unique twist on exorcism movies.
Known for her roles in ‘Wrong Turn 6: The Last Resort’ and the ‘Blood Feast’ remake, Katz not only stars in the film but also takes on the challenge of producing it.
Her company, See You Next Tuesday Films, aims to highlight strong female characters in horror.

The blood-thirsty hitchhiker, the escaped psycho with a hook for a hand, the babysitter and the call that is somehow unequivocally coming from inside the house; we all known them. The modern day fables that have shaped our fears and behaviours arguably more than any others. Urban legends that all seem to have sprung out of the American post-war hangover of the 1950s and ’60s, as inequality took seed and the dark side of the new white-picket-fence suburbia slowly set in off-screen. Ed Gein and Ted Bundy and the Moors Murders filled the news. Doubts about our fellow man, and about what they’re capable of. About how we very much aren’t “all in this together”; that the days of blindly trusting one another are all but over. That people, strangers in particular, are more likely to be dangerous than helpful.
And naturally, those cautionary tales bled into culture and filmmaking.

Some stories are simply too good to be contained within a single film, and that's especially true in the horror genre. Many film tales of terror have been remade, sometimes as a cash grab, but mostly because these classics are timeless. It doesn't always make sense to attempt rebooting an iconic movie, but often, a fresh take on a classic can be more original than a derivative new property.
They're some of the biggest and longest-running franchises, but horror films can wear out their welcome with seemingly endless, uninspired sequels. Sometimes a reboot is necessary to reignite the fans' passion and hopefully spawn a new franchise. Lots of horror movies have been remade, but the truly great ones have multiple reboots.

‘Tis the season to be thankful. The dust has settled on Halloween, and November brings colder temps and the dreaded time change. As the holidays loom, many people take stock of their lives and express gratitude for what they have. As for horror movies, Thanksgiving gives our favorite genre a chance to explore themes of thankfulness while dishing up some delectable gore and practical effects. With John Grissmer’s Blood Rage and Herschell Gordon Lewis’ Blood Feast, which isn’t technically a holiday horror, it’s a season of family time and delicious bloodshed. We should be so grateful.
Blood Rage, written by Bruce Rubin, throbs with the coarseness of a claw hammer. Its mangled, DIY body parts are as essential to its charm as the grisly bursts of violence. Mark Soper plays double duty as two identical twins, Todd and Terry. As young boys, Terry slaughters two young teens...

When cinephiles of a certain sensibility talk about the best decades for horror, they’ll probably point to the 1980s with its explosion of cutting-edge special effects and home video-induced demand for material. Or they might point to the era of Universal Pictures’ domination in the 1930s, followed up then by the moody Val Lewton thrillers of the 1940s. Maybe even a very unpopular kid will try to make an argument for the 2010s, at least until everyone pulls the A24 hat over his eyes and kicks him out.
But moviegoers would be foolish to overlook the 1960s. The decade saw not only two amazing horror flicks from Alfred Hitchcock but also caught the genre in an interesting time of transition. Filmmakers built on the Gothic approach of previous decades by adding a psychological dimension, finding new chills in an established model. Furthermore, the decade saw the first steps toward the ho,...

The episode of Best Horror Movie You Never Saw covering 2001 Maniacs was Written by Cody Hamman, Narrated by Kier Gomes, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Produced by John Fallon and Tyler Nichols, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Robert Englund doing a demented Colonel Sanders impression. Lin Shaye putting on a deadly song and dance routine. Enough politically incorrect elements to offend pretty much everybody. Buckets of gore. Gratuitous nudity. And a cameo appearance by Eli Roth, playing his Cabin Fever character. Put all of this together and you get 2001 Maniacs (watch it Here). The director calls it a “splatstick” movie. Splatter combined with slapstick comedy. We call it The Best Horror Movie You Never Saw.
Herschell Gordon Lewis was a classy guy, but he specialized in making movies that were not classy. His aim was to give the grindhouse and drive-in crowds the things Hollywood wasn’t giving them. Noting...

Big Easy Queens is a new queer, camp, glam horror film set in the thriving city of Wilton Manors, adding a visionary element to the genre. The film showcases a mesmerizing use of color in its cinematography, reminiscent of Nicolas Winding Refn's "Only God Forgives". With a New Orleans setting and jazz-filled streets, Big Easy Queens tells the story of Minnie Bouvèé and her rivalry with Poodles Makenzie, which takes a terrifying turn when a masked stalker enters the picture.
Miss Bouvèé stars in a visionary experience in horror. The city of Wilton Manors is a thriving part of Miami’s overarching metropolitan area, and, now, it also serves as the setting for the new “queer, camp, glam horror” film titled Big Easy Queens. Director and co-producer Erynn Dalton’s latest project is coming off of its world premiere at the Popcorn Frights Film Festival, which will also screen fan-favorites,...

Horror films existed since the birth of moving pictures but didn't become a widely-recognized genre until the classic era of Universal Monsters launched Dracula and Frankenstein. Because these monsters were so popular and, more importantly, based mostly on public domain properties, there have been many remakes, reboots, and parodies over the years.
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but monster movie ripoffs are usually geared toward making a quick buck. That's not to say they are all bad, but most remakes and imitators never come close to the originals. Reinterpreting classics, however, can lead to far more entertaining results as some of the most bizarre spins on the Universal Monsters have proven.

In 1960, Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" brought the fear of monsters into a modern setting. Instead of creatures from the Black Lagoon or caped vampires in castles, the pioneering filmmaker forced audiences to think differently about the dangers lurking in their own backyards. From the butcher knife to the twist ending, it also presented the basic mechanics which would later define the slasher movie subgenre.
Throughout the following two decades, numerous other films, including 1974's "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre," laid the groundwork for the slasher boom of the 1980s. Other early entries, like 1964's "Blood Feast," toyed with grotesque images of severed limbs and tense stalking...

It will come as a surprise to no one that John Waters, as a wayward youth, once got arrested at the since-shuttered Carlin’s Drive-In in Baltimore. He used to spend lots of time at the local drive-ins, including Bengie’s Drive-In in Maryland, which is still open. Waters seems so synonymous with drive-ins, he even shot the final scene of 2000’s “Cecil B. Demented” at a local one.
“I spent a week in the drive-in filming that finale, so that almost cured me ever wanting to go back to the drive-in again,” Waters said during a recent in-person interview. The filmmaker donned an understated brown cloth mask, having just stepped out from his car after introducing the first in a double feature he programmed for the Provincetown International Film Festival over the weekend. We spoke in the fading dusk as ketchup-soaked killer bunnies appeared onscreen, our conversation occasionally interrupted...

After a few relatively quiet weeks to wrap up June’s home media releases, July comes roaring back with a slate of titles that genre fans will definitely want to add to their Blu-ray and DVD collections. Arrow Video has been staying extremely busy as of late, with three different releases coming out on Tuesday: Black Rainbow from Flash Gordon director Mike Hodges, Zombie for Sale, and Teruo Ishii’s Inferno of Torture. Criterion Collection is also celebrating an all-time sci-fi classic this Tuesday, The War of the Worlds, and if you haven’t had a chance to check it out on Shudder, Belzebuth is headed to both Blu-ray and DVD this week as well.
Leomark is showing some love to the Godfather of Gore, Herschell Gordon Lewis, with their Blu-ray presentation of Bloodmania, and Kino Lorber is resurrecting The Flesh and the Fiends for a Special Edition Blu this week,...

Stars: Tyler Gallant, Elissa Dowling, Sarah French, Felissa Rose, Tiffani Fest, Brandon Rhea, Kwame Head | Written by Mario von Czapiewski | Directed by Marcel Walz
Written by Mario von Czapiewski and with Marcel Walz (who remade Blood Feast back in 2016) as director, Rootwood is a horror flick about a couple of student podcasters named William and Jessica who are making a documentary about the myth of The Wooden Devil. Entering a forest by the name of… wait for it… Rootwood Forest, they, along with a recruit named Erin, go about investigating this creature and the truths about its existence. Think The Blair Witch Project with a modern twist, and you’ve got an idea of what the inspiration behind Rootwood is.
Now, as far as quality goes, this is a film of two halves, at least as far as I’m concerned. For a good 45 minutes or so I was getting...
