Final film of Alan Hale. He died about a month after shooting wrapped. Robin Hoods Vergeltung (1950) was filmed before this picture was made, but released after it.
To avoid confusing it with its TV series of the same name, Colt .45 (1957), Warner Bros. changed the film's title to "Chief Thundercloud". It has subsequently reverted back to its original title. The movie was made in 1950, the series in 1957!
The .44-cal Colt revolving pistol was made in 1849 and reached final form by 1850.
The revolvers shown are the 1847 Walker Colt .44, not .45.
The hideout used by the outlaw gang is the same location used in a previous Ruth Roman movie, Der Geier von Arizona (1950).
