In a far-fetched story ,the police, police captain Clergé and his lieutenant are joined by three crooks who have an ulterior motive in helping the law.

Obviously inspired by Arsène Lupin , you have two gentlemen cambrioleurs and one lady cambrioleur for the price of one ;the names are well-chosen: the Thumb (René Dary) ,the Forefinger aka the Marchioness (Hélène Perdrière) and the Middle Finger ; these swindlers always manage to get ahead of the cops.

It's the screenwriter's wish ,but it's Maurice Leblanc's reality .The screenplay is a mess: Jean Le Hallier 's novel is no match for the Lupin saga .The action is too hurried for comfort and the viewer gets lost in this muddled spy thriller ; who cares about this secret documents relevant to National Defence hidden in a vase?Not funny enough to be a comedy ,and not exciting enough to be a thriller in the grand tradition of Maurice Leblanc.

Yves Ciampi 's first effort ,"Suzanne et ses brigands " also featuring Dary was written by talented Pierre Very,but only one of its three segments was worthwhile.In his filmography ,you'd better choose "les héros sont fatigués" or his most ambitious work "qui êtes vous monsieur Sorge"?
