The prototype Bugs says his line, "Of course, you know, this means war!" for the first time. This is quoting Groucho Marx's character from Die Marx Brothers im Krieg (1933).
The first appearance of Happy Rabbit, the prototypical version of Bugs Bunny. He's barely recognizable compared to his more familiar later form. Bugs' first official appearance will come two years later.
The "Do you have a hunting license?" gag was revived (but modified) in Duck dich, Duck! (1953) where Bugs Bunny asks Elmer Fudd, "Do you have a fricasseeing rabbit license?"
This is the first short to be directed by Ben Hardaway since Buddy in Africa (1935), he would continue directing shorts for the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series until 1940.
